We had a great UPS driver - he retired recently but we used to hook him up with energy drinks, Dr. Peppers, & cookies.

 

Sometimes things are best left unsaid and unexplained......

 

If I'm outside, I always offer the delivery people a drink (usually just water since all we drink is water or beer). They usually agree. Ours are pretty decent.

 

I am half way through my career and I will be honest.. the people who constantly offer drinks and snacks or a coffee when it’s 8° out in February, are the customers I appreciate significantly more.
Yes a yearly Christmas tip is nice. But the daily nice-ness of a family is much more appreciated.

One example.. I have one family on route (huge orderers) that one day asked me about beer and what I liked and yada yada, every Friday there is a 6 of random crafts in front of their garage door for me. Makes one feel truly appreciated… A little goes a long way.

 

We get a lot of FedEx deliveries for my wife’s business. Our normal driver is awesome. But then her company changed the contract and the SLAs on her boxes changed, so we got switched to the B team douchebags that come between 3 and 9 pm, as opposed to 10-11 am with the other guy.

We’ve always tried to do this, leaving a basket full of Gatorade and snacks so the USPS/Amazon/UPS/FedEx et al could grab something quick. Then we had the Ashley Furniture delivery guys take BOTH F***ING BASKETS WITH THEM. That soured our outlook a bit.

 

I mowed lawns when I was younger, I worked as a dishwasher, fry guy, cook, bagger, day janitor, night janitor, patient aide (a glorified orderly), night security, bartender, restaurant manager, and did the Army thing. I appreciate anybody that works hard and is kind. Our mail lady, that haggat is another story. She's angry all the time and snaps at you when you ask her a question. She gets nothing.

 

Yeah, that would piss me off. Probably related to our mean mail lady.

 

We’ve tried to give our guy tips/cards/ZJs/etc but he wouldn’t accept. He either hates us that much or liked to follow the rules.

 

I can't believe nobody switched out "ZJs" for "BJs". Where is everybody?

 

I miss having a real mailbox.

Truth. I try to be friendly to people when I can, but I get that a lot of people are just trying to get through their day without killing someone.

 

We lived in a HOA for 11 years. They are good for something but in those 11 years, I never figured out what.

 

We were at a bbq joint a few weeks ago, and one of the other hvac guys perked up and was like check it out!!! He saw these two ladies that he thought were “technicians” because he thought he saw them with tool bags…….
I look at who he’s googling over, and I’m like bro that’s the health inspector! That’s her thermometer pouch and clipboard holder!!! He was devastated, but know I know what his kink is!!!!

 

Yup. Can’t really escape that in my area unless you want to live in BFE or have a million to spend.
