bought a CPO '15 Limited 4x4 CM a couple weeks ago. My first Tundra but not new to Toyota trucks. I had an '02 Tacoma for ten years before selling it when we moved from Hawaii and a '15 Tacoma that I traded on this Tundra.

I'm loving it so far. If I could just keep my foot off the go pedal I might even have decent gas mileage. :burnrubber:

The rubber trim edge on the fender flares has come loose in spots. Debating removing the flares completely or just buying replacement rubber from bushwhacker and redoing it. Thoughts?

Depends on what you like. Do you like the fenders or could you live without them?

I think the truck looks good either way. Might just pull them off and if I miss them order the trim and reinstall it properly with paint protection underneath.

Yeah. I pulled one off and saw a pretty good mark where the rubber rubbed on the paint. I'll pull them all off when I have a little time and do some paint correction and see how I like it without the flares.

This is what it looked like under the flares.
    IMG_2251.jpg

    After cleaning:
    IMG_2253.jpg

    All gone:
    IMG_2254.jpg

The paint's not terrible considering those flares have been on for over two years. Most of it is isn't deep at all and only affects the clearcoat so can it can be fixed. There are only a couple spots where it's got deeper pitting:
    image.jpg

Haven't had a chance to get the DA out yet. Need to do paint correction on the whole truck since someone at the dealership didn't know what they were doing with a rotary and left swirl marks all over the paint. They also did a really shitty job cleaning inside but at least they didn't leave that greasy crap that they always use all over the interior.

I'll get to the paint another day after I wash it really well and get a chance to clay it.

Porter Cable 7424XP. I've been happy with it. I use 6.5" pads for most touch up work since larger area means lighter pressure that won't cut as quickly. For more involved paint correction 5.5" pads cut a little quicker and sometimes I'll use 3" pads for finer detail work.

If I was going to a wider wheel/tire combo I would keep the flares, but since that won't be for a few years, if at all, I'll keep them off. I'm confident that I'll be able to clean up most of this damage, and the chips can be filled with touch up paint and sanded/polished smooth enough that they'll be all but invisible except up close.

If I ever install flares again I'll add some sort of paint protection underneath to prevent the damage before it happens. If you like the look I say go for it.

BTW if anyone local wants OEM fender flares, I'm willing to sell these so they don't take up so much space. I think $100 sounds fair?

Nice. I've thought about upgrading but ever since our boys were born I really haven't done a lot of detailing. I've even been running our cars through the local car wash to save time :anonymous::itllbuffout:
