Welcome! What fate did the '02 Taco find? I've been passively poking around for a '94-'04 2WD Taco ext or crew cab with some power options lately.

You've got lots of options on subs. Plenty of room to drop an 8-10" sub in the pocket under each of the rear seats. If you can't find links to example using search, ping me, I've dug it up for others w/double cabs in the past. Lots more room and options for DC than AC trucks, I feel real bad for the RC guys though :D

Nice! I'm hunting 2WD and 2.4 or 2.7 ideally or I'd be kicking an offer on yours.

    You won't find a 2wd 2.7.
Why not a 3.4? Looks like his is a the most sought after combo too. 5vz manual 4x4 TRD ext cab. And low miles too. The 5vz is a hell of an engine. If he was in Texas I'd consider selling my T100 to buy it instead.

Found one locally, actually, not too rare, maybe? Or maybe it's a 2.4, thought it said 2.7. Haven't pulled the trigger, just noticed it last night. Intending to reach out to seller today.

Why on the drivetrain choices? Looking for a small task runner with a bed I can sport-truck. MPG is important, ideally I'd like it to be at least in the low-mid 20mpg hwy. Future intent may involve ditching NA for FI, 2.7 long would be nice, but I think I could make 2.4 work. Looking for 2WD because it'll be purely street and the lack of extra drivetrain, clutter, and weight leaves all kinds of options open for sport suspension without worrying about collateral hassle or impact. Don't really care on year, but I've been keeping eyes peeled towards the latter 1st gen taco, '01-'04. Pretty specific, I know. But I'm not in a rush.

If my first gen taco knowledge serves me correctly, the 2.7L was only available in 4x4 models. The 2.4L was the 2wd option. The 3.4 was available in any body or drive until 98 when they ditched the v6 single cab option. The 2.7 I believe was available in the DC but it's super rare. The unicorn being a 95-97 single cab 3.4 manual 4x4 and the 97 being particularly sought after for its ability to take a supercharger without swapping the ECU. However LCE does make superchargers for the 4 bangers. Iirc the 2.7 is basically a bored over 2.4, much like the 3.4 is a kin to the 3.0

2.7L was available 2wd... in the prerunner package (standard, extended & double cab).

2.7L was stroked not bored iirc.

Nice truck! Mind telling us what you paid for it? Such low miles!

For what its worth, I have the same wheels, I painted them black but kept the hub caps stock. If you want to see pictures, you can see in my build thread below.
