Hey what's up yall. So I was finally able to join the Tundra family and I couldn't be any more happy.

However yesterday I was backing up and unfortunately hit a cement column in my apartment complex. I dented the chrome right plate and lifted the plastic step cover a bit on the edge. Can I take this to a car shop for repairs vs having to replace the whole thing? Thanks 20211010_104937.jpg

It's hard to tell from the picture but they might be able to reshape it. If not you might be able to find one for sale locally.

Gotcha. The right chrome part is a bit sunken and the plastic step is a bit scratched and folded in.

I think for the most part all of the old school bumper repair/re-chrome guys are gone. You might find one in select areas.... most body shops do not deal with bumper repairs, they like the easy route remove and replace

Looks like time for a new bumper if you want it to look right

Probably. It’s hard to work dents out of bumpers. You might try a couple of big C clamps and a block of wood on each side. I’ve done that before.

I just bought a replacement bumper for $185 shipped.

Craigslist is always full of bumpers for sale. I’d look at that cuz otherwise it’ll cost lots more. I’m in Seattle and I look for deals from here to Portland to Spokane and in between. Even if you don’t find one immediately, they pop up. If you travel, expand your search.

It could be repaired fairly easy but would most likely have a super small spot that would off. These bumpers seem to thin and fairly easy to work with if you were to DIY an had some knowledge/experience in the area. But as for a option for a shop doing it would be best spent doing the cheaper replacement as body tech hours would come out the same or be more expensive.

I backed into a CONCRETE column with a Dodge years ago. I was able to cover the damage with a strip of peel & stick bumper trim. Yours might be too 'involved' though.

I got rear ended by my buddy with a GMC 2500 the other day and my bumper suffered similar damage. Mine will require replacing, since it now interferes with the tailgate. Yours will probably be easier to just replace as well.

Just replace the bumper shell (e-bay) and re-use the plastic trim cover...easy peasy and cheap.

I had a similar experience with a concrete column. It very slightly pushed the left side of the bumper out of original alignment. Has anyone fixed this? It looks like there might be a few bolts that can be loosened so that I could pull it back into alignment. Any help would be appreciated

I see them regularly in my area for sale on Facebook marketplace and craigslist.
Plenty on eBay. Car-part.com also has a lot of OEM used in great shape.
