Totally agree, really like his vids. And yes that back seat room seems tiny, I'm 5 inches taller than him, and with my seat position set, I have much more room than that in back.

There's another thread that talks about how it is basically the same size as the outgoing model

There is no way it's the same size as the outgoing model for the rear seat on the double cab. From all the videos I've seen of it there is hardly any legroom and the seat back is now straight up vs the slight angle it has previously to make it more comfortable. In that last video posted that guy is About my height and when I have the current double cab seat driver seat set for my height I have more legroom then he did in that video. Heck with my DC seat all the way back mine still has more room. Toyota has gone in line with a Chevy double cab now, one of the reasons I ended up with the tundra after a few Silverados was the double cab rear seat room. The tundra was far superior, now they are on par with them which is a shame.

That's going off door sizes, look at the actual space in the interior of the DC in that video. Leg room has diminished and the seat back is straight up. This is mine with the driver set for me at 5'7 and my wife has the pass seat all the way back. Plus notice how much more reclined the seat back is.

As mentioned before, Mike sweers said it is a non slip coating.... sounds to me it is not some full blown line x spray in. I would say its just to add texture to make it not so slick because of the plastic

In Tim's DC Tundra video, I noticed that all of the interior finishes now seem to be production-ready with the proper texturing.
Up until now, the door panels and a few other plastic bits like the seat frames were un-textured, shiny plastic.

Oh, and I asked Tim how the JBL system with the sub sounded, and he said it sounds much better than last gen Tundra JBL.

You can't be serious, look at that passenger seat back to the rear seat, hardly any room there. Plus the 22' is straight up and down rear seat back, current gen is angled a bit so it's more comfortable.

They have basically moved the current gen double cab guys who were actually using the rear seat into the crew cab on the 22 model. So for a guy like me that is actually using the truck it depends how much payload crew eats up vs a double cab and the pricing for it to pan out.

Sorry, but they both look angled to me and there might be slightly less room in the 22, but you'd have to get a measuring tape to tell for sure, plus the front seats in the 22 could be back further

It sucks that they took some back seat space from the DC, it was perfect in gen 2, it's the feature that surprised me the most. I'm glad they added a sunroof, especially a nice sized one as I'm not crazy about pano roofs.

    A bunch
The seats in the 22 look a lot longer. I know the 2.5 gen rear seats are pretty short, my dog can barely stay on them while the 3rd gen ones look to be normal length.

We need someone to get a tape measure and go steering wheel to front of seat, seat back, and rear structure on both to know where the significant changes are.

Didn't they say they increased the front seat travel by like 24% or something to accommodate taller drivers. I swear they have mentioned it in just about every marketing videos thus the seat goes back further than previous gen.

In the video above he set that front seat pretty far forward and he's 5'7 and you can clearly see it's pretty tight in the front already. I'm a few inches taller and I did that exact same test (I've always done that in every car I've ever shopped for) on the gen 2 DC and had a lot of room sitting back there. In fact it seem similar to the rear seat room you get in the Big 3's crew cabs.

Honestly, the DC looks about the same as my wife's Corolla Hatchback. I feel bad for my son, he has to sit on the passenger side and we keep that seat forward. My Q60, which is a 2 door 4 seater, is far more spacious than the Corolla.

Anyways, gonna need to bring the cooler along, just need to see if a cooler fits back there. Maybe, someday, a stinky dog too.

I like how Toyota is allowing most of the fancy options on the DC, I know I've mentioned it before, but Nissan doesn't allow much good stuff on either of their trucks unless you pick only the crew cab shortbed.

    So, if no tow hooks....

Does the Tundra have that little access door(s) most modern cars have in their front bumper, that pops off, so a recovery eyelet can be threaded in? I don't see any indication of that in the pics I've seen so far.......

Agreed, no one mentioned that being 100lb over is the end of the world. But did someone actually mention that having 3000lb in a composite bed Tacoma (not sure that is even possible without breaking the bed) is a good idea?

I’m not saying everyone should do what Bound For Nowhere did and turn their Tundra into a 9000lb overlanding rig. But if you’re somewhere between payload and axle ratings or even a bit over your axle rating for a careful, short trip home with some home improvement project materials? Big deal. The hand-wringing over hypothetical legal situations that have never happened and the “oh so you know better than Toyota” talk never fail when someone mentions that they don’t always abide by the door jamb numbers.

Give me an example of a new car or truck being smaller than the generation or model it replaces.

Not sure what late model Big 3 crew cabs you’ve been in lately. But my current work truck is a 2021 Ram, last year it was a 2020 Silverado, and my team has a fleet 2017 F150 that I have driven extensively.

All have back seats that are similar in size to my 2018 Platinum, and I routinely have adults (or my adult sized teenage boys) in the back of them.

All are also MUCH more spacious, and easier to get in / out compared to my previous 2010 Rock Warrior DC. In fact, the only reason I got rid of the Rock Warrior was due to how small the DC back seat was. Would still be driving that truck today if I would have gotten the crew.

Swears was talking about that in one of the videos. The plastic bed is slippy. You can get a spray in to make it grippy. I would assume (although it's a guess) that it would be thinner than regular spray in liners and only on the bottom, not up the sides. But who knows?

The other option would have been to make the bed with a rougher plastic so it wasn't slippy to begin with but what do I know? lol

Totally agree, but the X factor is the nameplate Toyota. Morons now are paying $75k for TRDpro trucks. Toyota will have no problem finding people to pay $70k range prices for this new Tundra.

I bought a rubber mat from Toyota years ago for my tundra as it had the spray in liner and I found this worked great. Put it in when I wanted things like snow boards to stay put and took it out for the majority of the time for hauling garbage to the dump etc..

Mike also mentioned that he realizes owners have a preference between slippery beds or grippy beds. Since I will have a fiberglass cap installed, I prefer a slippery bed so it's easier to drag out items that are towards the cab.
