Going to do some foam surgery on the seat bottom of my limited. Do I need to remove battery cable and pull the seat to do this? Any videos out there of 3rd gen seat covers being removed? found a good one from 2nd gen.

I don't know the answer to your question per se but I would definitely disconnect the battery and pull the seat out. I would think it would be much easier. Mostly covers kind of snap on with these plastic tubes with a slit up the middle that clip on underneath the seat. It's a knuckle buster for sure.

Need my seat to be a lot softer. Hate it right now. Anything over 1/2 hr is misery. So considering the following options:
1- install cloth. Already bought brand new factory cloth on eBay for a steal.
2- cut 1" or so of foam off the top of the center sections and replace with softer foam. Have foam coming in next week for this.
3- add batting to 'wings' for more lateral support.
4- cut v shape strips out of existing foam on seat bottom center sections.

Or some combination of the above. I think I'll try the v cuts first as this would be easiest. Depends how tough it is getting cover on and off.

I removed my leather seat covers from my 2014 limited, I hate the seats as well, like sitting on a park bench , to your answer is no, I just unplugged the wires. I switched to regular cloth sr5 seat covers i found on eBay just for my drivers side. Super easy, just time consuming and tedious. The seat is way more comfortable now.

Well I did it this morning! Tater you gave me the confidence to get on it. Only drove around the block after the job but so far very happy. As you said not really difficult just time consuming. I'd say it took me a solid 90 minutes for the drivers seat. Going to live with that for a while and think about doing the rest.

It most definitely is softer feeling. The leather covers are pretty darn thick. A side benefit is the seat heaters work WAY better now. Going to watch eBay for a matching headrest.

Attaching the covers was easy. Bought a hog ring kit on Amazon.

Yes, they are attached by a few stiches, I cut them loose, then used 3M adhesive spray to reattach. I reused all the bull hooks too, you'll need a a few needle nose pliers to work them loose, also make sure you recline the seat a bit before you remove the seat, it's easier to remove the leather covers and reinstall the new ones.

Looks like I'll be keeping the leather headrest. $249 on eBay. Stupid price when entire interior was 169.

Seats are cushier but still need more support. Will add foam next week. Might also remove middle hog ring bar on bottom cushion.
