General Supercharger Thread

Prospeeds is 650. I will have to save for a little while to get it after all I’ve spent on my truck. Harrop, tuning software,DW650s, Bilstein 5100s front &rear, rear Trd sway bar, Fuel Vandals with Nitto Ridge Grapplers,navigation with back up camera,(still need all new speakers lol) I need the pulley also. Can you believe a pulley is 140 at Harrop? I’ve been busy on this truck. Not bragging by any means! Just upgraded a older truck. Wish I could afford a new truck but Covid-19 bs wasn’t good to me! The email he sent said it was at 510+g/sec and should be close to 600bhp. That’s where I got that information I put in that earlier post. I read somewhere that all I needed was the top part of the Magnuson cai that they use the stock cai bottom when installing at Toyota. If I’m not mistaken. To be honest it is running great. I would like to up my shift point rpms. First- second shifts at like 5200 rpms. To early in my book.Tuner said he doesn’t do that. Stock n Slow said the Tundras sweet spot is 6200-6300 rpms. Does anyone else’s shift early like that? I have never really paid attention to it until I started data logging.

 

Someone I think in here was asking about beating a TRX. I doubt it based on this video. Red one is a Harrop with Headers.

In fairness the TRX was running in 4x4 vs a 2 wheel drive truck that had no traction on an unprepped surface. If the tundra was a 4x4, or even if it was a prepped drag strip I think that tundra would have had it.

Relatively slow. It runs high 12s on slicks at the track I believe.

 

6.2L's running 11psi vs. 5.7L's running 6-8psi.

I reckon I'm $65k deep into my truck...once the ECU opens, I figger another $5k gets me into the high 11's. or thereabouts.

 

base TRX can be had for 80k for you guys south of the border, I've been contemplating to make the switch to TRX but the price differences up in Canada is not worth it.

 

how far south? I'm in Houston & a "gently" used TRX is $91k.

and gooooood damn luck trying to find a base unit.

I used to have a Rebel, was thinking of getting a TRX but the prices here is pretty high, it's about 140k OTD for us in Canada where my was about high 70s, so it's almost 2x

 

Guys, d3 performance just informed me they can tune 2020+ !!

 

Well, I Just got my truck back today with the stage 1. I have been trying not to be too hard on it, but I did a couple pulls and it runs very strong. It looks like my AFR hangs out in the 10s to high 11s with an occasional quick blip into the 12s at WOT. It’s super erratic so I’m not sure why that is, but it seems to be running mostly in the safe zone from what I can tell. I wish it was more steady so I could be more certain about it. Boost bounces from 6-7 lbs as expected.
Its amazing how quick it is even with my 295/70r17 mud tires, and full 38 gallon tank! It feels like driving any other tundra if you drive it normal and stay out of boost/ I found tow/haul mode to me much more entertaining, and makes the throttle much more sensitive and gets it into boost a lot easier. Overall I’m satisfied, but will likely get injectors and a tune later for the added safety and benefits, and maybe some better transmission tuning. I can’t wait to see how it pulls my camper this coming week, we have a trip planned so it will get put right to the test.

Stoked to hear what you think of this tuner company. My shop works with HP primarily, and I've not heard of D3. If this company gets a go I'll have to go Stage 2 after the holidays.

same here. HPTuners was/is the go to tuner. why no news from them?

I suspect D3 has limited access to tables as they have only done NA tundras.

I think you are 100% spot on.

My preference is to use HP Tuners (based on my shop's recommendations and what they are comfortable with) too.

I pop in to the HP tuner forum every once in a while to see if they reported any progress;last status was basically a "we are working on it". To date I don't think they've cracked the 2019s either so we may be waiting a bit longer.

The owner of D3 is presently in talks with Harrop about my case...moving to stage 2.

seems legit so far. he is very responsive.

If in future conversation you’re able to slide in the question of whether they would ever offer remote tuning for supercharged trucks, let us know! I’m currently exploring tuning options. I just don’t trust the factory tune to protect me. I’m especially worried about what shifting under load without greatly increasing the line pressures/shifting speed could do to my transmission.

I have 30k miles on it and it does not burn any oil

 

In my experience the oil becomes visibly dirty right after 200 gallons of consumed fuel. Your mileage may vary, obviously. It’s super easy to vacuum extract oil through the dipstick tube and refill.

 

I'm now checking with Harrop.

I have a gut feeling only the 18 & 19's are tunable. 20 & 21 are a different encryption.

I have tested my 06 sequoia, 15 4runner, 18 highlander. & 11 LS460L all had a greater than 2.8 TBN after 5000 miles & a clean bill of health

Toyotas, in my little world, are very easy on motor oil. especially the sequoia - it's tbn could easily go 10k.

however....I change @ 5k. because.

I used M1 for the longest...then we got a Costco. $25 for 10 quarts of Warren Dist oil is nice. it has returned very similar oil tests.

Now that I use forced induction....I'll test the Tundra next oil change & report back.

 

I see that DAP offers remote tuning. Have you looked into them?
