Spent 2 days wiring up new cheap Boss BV755 BLC head unit and backup camera. The Radio/DVD/CD unit is nice, but I really appreciate the backup camera.

I painted my grill and surround black, also painted the mirror covers black as well. Replaced the drip edge strips on both sides. Replaced the PCV valve. I highly suggest if you are going to remove the grill, to pre-order new clips that attach the grill to the top of the hood. After my wife saw the grill, she said I should paint the bumpers and door handles too. I’d love to color match the bumpers, but it’s waaay too much work and I’m not a fan of the Plasti-Dip coating 8DCF9BC2-695E-4223-A013-37909B1A3433.jpg

Try out super wrap gloss black spray on coatings. I just did my front bumper, mirror caps, and wheels and they turned out really good. Actually gloss black unlike plastidip.

I like those headlights. What brand and model are they? What's your opinion on quality?

Alpharex headlights. I asked for HID headlights instead of the LED that most get for the low beams, it has LED high beams though and sequential turn signals.

The quality is just OK, I kind of was hoping for better but these are the cheapest option with adjustable lights still which I wanted to keep. The light output is probably 90% of what I was expecting. The beam pattern isn’t as wide as I had hoped and not quite as bright as I hoped but close enough that I don’t plan on changing them ever. I am just adding extra lights to be used with my brights.

Looks wise, I love the look of the lights and get people asking me what brand they are all the time. The look is important to me. I did have a ballast go bad already though, so now I’ve moved the ballast to a place I can get to them easily. They are sending me a new one under warranty but I couldn’t wait so I ordered a new set on Amazon and will keep the others as backups.

Bumper looks great! Do you have an up close pic? Did you buy a kit of the super wrap? I see a kit for wheels on Amazon. My only dislike with plasti dip is the dull finish.

I don’t but I can get some. I bought the 20” wheel kit and 4 extra cans. I did the wheels, front bumper, mirror caps and side flag emblems and used all of the cans. I didn’t have enough for the rear bumper so I did that in plastidip.

The dull look of plastidip is exactly what I didn’t want, so although my expectations were pretty low, I was pleasantly surprised by the way it turned out. They also have a gloss spray that I didn’t go with that makes it more glossy.

I’ll get some close ups in a bit here for you.

Yeah, mainly durability and longevity. I also have no idea what can be used with it, for example will tire shine melt it off my wheels?

honestly didn’t expect it to do so well so didn’t really look at after care of the product. Now I have to figure that out. Otherwise no not really.

Played around with techstream. Changed my key fob unlock settings to 1 click = unlock all. No more random pressing to unlock the truck for the boys to get in.

Debating if I want to code out the seat belt and door chimes.

    Agreed.

I would LOVE to deactivate the seatbelt chime.

Wife's jeep has a hidden sequence to "unlock" this without the use of dealer software (and braindead dealer employees).

Kinda wish Toyota made it easier, but wish in one hand and shit in the other...

I think that the 2.5 Gen trucks and the 1st Gen trucks with the Optitron clusters can access some of these settings from the cluster.

Are you using the Toyota supplied OBD2 adapter with it? I just purchased my first Toyota and am researching Techstream now.

Spare laptop running the ih8mud virtual machine and techstream file. It's an older version #12.20.024

Generic VCI off Amazon. I didn't bother loading the techstream cd it comes with. There's been reports that the new versions lost customizations plus loads of install problems.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I'm going to see if I can get it to work with my ELM 327 without the USB dongle.

Yeah, I hooked it on a rock crossing a steep wash. This was the after picture after I did a little work with two by fours and a bottle jack LOL.

    I ordered a new bumper.

I also pulled my Eibach coilovers and lowered them a notch. Went from about 2.75” of lift to 2ish”. I was having some front end noise that I think was due to not having my coils indexed correctly, so I fixed that as well. I didn’t like the way the truck felt in the corners, and I have stock UCAs so I was pushing the limits.

Any explain regarding the coil indexing?

Just installed mine yesterday and believe both the top mount and spring perch were flat milled surfaces.?

Have mine set about 2" from the bottom of their travel... Feel like Eibach should hook it up with a longer wrench for adjusting.

Not exactly an easy task even with the suspension unloaded.

I used the recommended indexing diagram from Toyota, which showed the pigtails at a 25 degree angle outward from the bottom mount bolt.

Mine is the Stage 1, so you have to compress the coil and remove the seat to move the clip. It actually isn’t that bad pulling them all the way out. I put a long 2x4 between the frame and LCA and my daughter levered it down while I pulled out/put back in the coilover.

Can anyone with a stock front end on their 2nd gen take a picture of their radiator? Long story short, I took the metal pieces off off mine when I added my front bumper, trying to determine what piece needs to go back on.
