    Hello,

I just joined recently. I just purchased a new 2021 Tundra TRD Pro in Lunar Rock. Like many i want to upgrade the tires on the truck. I want to go a bigger size but without any modifications to the truck. (other than maybe un bolting the little front air dam). I was thinking of going to 285/75 R18 or 285/70 R18? Is there another size i should be looking at?
I was thinking Toyo Open Country AT III or Fallen Wildpeaks or Nitto Ridge Grapplers? Any other tire suggestions i should be looking at? This is my first Tundra so i appreciate all of the help. Thx

Remove the front mudflaps and install 295/70r18’s. I like wildpeaks the best, miss mine. I have duratracs now and hate them.

Thanks for the response. I presume those will fit without any rubbing? You don't think 295's are too wide for the rim? Thx

They fit with no rub, there are lot of pics and topics people have posted running that exact size. IMO it’s the size they should come with stock.

At this very moment I am installing 295/70/18 and I have some rubbing in the bumper area, nothing near the body mount. I tried shoving the plastics forward and screwing it into the bumper with new hole and now it barely rubs occasionally. 17 TRD Pro here, just the factory lift. I am going to keep messing with the front plastics to gain that last 1/2 inch or so that I need. I will probably try some heat this time. Not giving up because the wheels/tires look killer.

Update: Just took so good old fashioned pushing of the front plastic to get the rubbing to subside.

Size topic has been covered several times.

As to brand - again…beaten to death, but at least 4 brands out there that are “loved” and 1 that is an absolute “love it or hate it” (KO2).

Im putting Falken on my whenever I can find time to get them and the truck to the tire place.

Michelin I just have no faith in any longer - different models but all Michelin’s on my last 4 vehicles - only one is wearing well enough that it doesn’t need replaced at 35k miles - and it sucks in the rain (just like the other 3 did). The set on the Acadia I was shocked at how bare they were when it came back with 25k miles..thought for sure alignment was out or something - nope just shit tire.

My Pro just turned 350 miles - no way I’m chancing it with the Michelins on a drive somewhere if it rains.

I went with 285/70/18’s. I could tell the power loss just from going from stock size to 285’s. I like the look and no rubbing. Also I plan on adding different wheels down the road and with the more aggressive off set that was the other reason. I may add the westcott lift also but I will still stay with the 285’s. Just my choice.

Those ridge grapplers are really nice tires, nitto makes a great tire, my only issue is the rubber is softer than KO2 and they wear out faster than BFG. I’m thinking of a 295/70/18 myself. I want a 10-12 ply quiet tire not to aggressive. I’m looking at the Cooper At3 xlt tires, great reviews.i have the icon coil overs on front they are amazing. I lifted truck about 3/4 of an inch In front and truck runs true and tires wear pretty square instead of that round wear. So I’m stoked about 295s. Also looking at the nitto dura grappler too. Anyone know about that tire?

Seems most are running either 285 or 295. I just chose the 285. Maybe someone will chime in and give you more info.

Sweet looking truck. Those tires are really nice looking an I love the ballooning on them. Perfect so you don’t check the wheels if you hit a curb . Super nice

Look into the coach builder bumper shims, I installed mine Friday after getting my new 295/70/18 falkens AT3 installed and I have zero rubbing at full turn in reverse. I also trimmed the mud flaps.

I have the icon coil overs that I adjusted and I’m sure that size will clear. best thing I did to my truck the ride is way better than stock. Smooth riding.

Im waiting on my 295/70r18s now, but I have seen that alot of people who do have rubbing with stock wheels on the sway bar. Minimal, but still there. I would have went with a285/70r18 if there was something other than a nitto or MT available. Last 2 sets of Nittos were a big disappointment .

That’s sucks they only have that size so far. But under the circumstances with all this bull shit going on that probably the reason.

I love the thread on them. My only issue is they can be slippery in the rain. Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

I had the same issue with grip in wet conditions. My real issue was both sets I had (Ridge Grappler/Terra Grappler) wore out sub 30k. This is just my experience. They are a good looking tire and handled mud really well, Ill give them that .

They go with 24” tires before 18”? Guess their target market are the bro-dozers.
