For some reason our teacher let us have a lot of freedom, we called him “the rock” or “welcome to the rock” in a Connery voice. My one buddy was always rounding the bases in the rolling room with this one chick, it’s like why is it so noisy in here!? I think The Rocks attention was more focused on this one kid who he saw as a breakthru or whatever, super artsy and dark kinda shit; haha he was actually the one that took the negatives from the cafeteria, he put his own twist on all of them.
I had dreams of doing a little dark room in the first house I bought; it never happened.

Oh I would if I still had them, I also wish I still had the pics from one of my skate boarding accidents, I had to come home and scrub rocks out of most of my side and legs, and the entire time my cousin thought my parents were getting down and dirty from all the groaning and moaning.

Ever notice how good those scars heal when we’re told, “those will never go away”?

    Ja!
I crashed pretty much everything I could.
Damaged my body until my 40s

Fortunately, My Mom was a nurse.
She also made me watch her wash all the bits and pieces of asphalt out of the “cool older kid” after he crashed his dirt bike in the dead end wearing nothing but cutoff blue jeans and converse.
I was always known as a “gear nazi” after that.

That reminds me of a motocross race up at Firebird when I was 15-16. I pulled the holeshot at the start only to have some douche cut under and take me down at the first turn. I had half the field of 250 2-stokes roost over my back.

I remember having to lie on my stomach in the back of the van the trip back to Tucson while my dad drove. I couldn't lean back in a chair or lie on my back for weeks.

So my crash, we would long board down a pretty sweet stretch of road called Roller Coaster Rd, and a side shoot we named “The Mother”
I had been away at scout camp for a week and monsoons came while I was gone and didn’t pay much attention.
It’s summer time so it’s hot AF, so naturally we would bomb the hills with no shirt, usually at night time, 10pm or later for traffic sake( we’ve been chased off by the sherif to many times, one and done was our motto) I’m pretty sure I had shoes on?
I’m in front and my two buddies behind, one with another long board and one with a short board with bearing made of stones……
I turn right into the mother, it’s pretty dark but I can see the road, as I’m gaining more and more speed I start focusing on the bottom of the hill and thru the speed tears I see that the road has sand over it, from the wash flowing thru the neighborhood.
For some reason I convince myself I can just “make it” over the sand, I’ve got big wheels right?
The sand field had to have been 15’ across, my board only made it about 6’ in and I completely cleared the sand and landed some feet on the other side in the asphalt.
I came to a weird backwards scorpion stop, listening and watching my other buddy hit the same sand patch and hearing the biggest thud I can remember.
I somehow pull myself up and remember my other buddy is slowly coming down on his short board; easily stopped with a jump and run off.
I was a lifeguard at the time, so no shirt was fair game while it all healed. People at restaurants didn’t really appreciate that out on the patio…..

the chunks that got taken out of each palm; one looked like Texas, and the other looked like a rabbit

Two kids at my high school flipped cars off that road - one was an impala which is still hard for me to grasp the physics. Road lives up to its name.

I grew up off of it, I could easily see someone flipping even a impala, those corner and hills come up quick if you don’t know what’s coming.
I don’t know if you ever drive river rd, west of La Cholla(anyone is welcome to try pronouncing that one)
Sooooo many tire marks and crashes into the wall and even down to the river path. I used to drive it ever day and would always see new tire marks Monday morning

I was really looking forward to the Bama vs Ducks title game.
    Maybe, next year?

When I first started at the post office as a sub I would deliver parts of different routes. I used to hate it when I did that road.

I’d like to report a robbery - Walt Disney just took all my fucking money over the last 3 days. All the new Star Wars shit is legit. Doesn’t help that my 5 year old is turning out to be as much of a nerd as I am.

If he did, I feel bad. Haha our driveway looked tame, but by the mailbox is was mayhem!! Her house is next to a wash so the driveway is always bad. We filled it lots of times but it always got crazy after a few weeks of angry subs flying thru the neighborhood hahah. Recently she’s put huge root/stump things out front because a fed ex driver keeps doing Uturns in her front yard.

On the topic of gangster movies...
    I've always liked HEAT..
Big fan of Michel Mann, except for the 2006 Miami Vice movie..:(
Saw Heat in the theater back in the day and it was intense.
That was back when Pacino and De Niro were still talented...
