Noticed my truck has started to pull to the left when braking. I recently replaced the front calipers. Upon closer inspection I see the passenger side caliper has fluid all over it and is leaking.

What's my best option here? doesn't appear to be leaking form bleeder or line so guessing the leak is around 1 (or all) of the pistons?

I saved my original calipers with plans to rebuild them anyway but had hope to get by for a little while with these remans. Probably don't even have 6K miles on these calipers

At $70 dollars for a replacement caliper, I don't think that a rebuild is worth it.

Are the calipers still under warranty?

I would bet if you pulled that remanufactured caliper apart that you'd find a damaged piston. Have you pulled your apart? If you just need the rubber bits replaced it's not that much of a job.

If the piston is damaged then it will just do the same to the new seal. Do the repair kits come with new pistons?

Raybestos sells new calipers called Element3 that are available at rockauto for about $112 each. Quality is usually good on these. If calipers from Toyota are too expensive, these would be my choice.

The parts store remans are hit and miss. Often they are ok, but what a headache when they aren't.

Don’t throw money at something that might not work. Just get a new oem one and swap it out.

Brakes aren't something I cheap out on, ever. Buy factory calipers, or high quality aftermarket ones.

All he need to do is buy a factory rebuild kit and check his oem original calipers and rebuild it

    Got caliper swapped out. T

Sucks but this leak has ruined the paint on the Wheel

went ahead and swapped out with a reman until I can rebuild the oem. Hopefully it will hold Up a little while. Sure made a mess.

did notice this. Any ideas on what caused this chunk to come off the pad?

inspect the rotor... on the inside.. if the rotor failed it probably took your caliper. my rear rotor failed a while back and took my caliper with it.

was your front caliper sticking?? I'm having similar issues with my front ones, already warped a new set of rotors... so they're on the replacement list.. mine are 240k

Rock chip or dirt, when dry everything fly off but when it’s wet everything stuck on

I do think it was sticking. I noticed that wheel had excessive brake dust right before i noticed the leak. when I disassembled everything was soaked in brake fluid and covered in dirt
