My PaPa O.A. Was a raging alcoholic.
Our hunting stories are sad and tragic.

At least my Moms Dad (PaPa) was a good man and the reason I joined the Navy.
    He didn’t hunt much.

The prey I’m hunting this weekend is the fastest predator of all.

    All shot with a Cannon.

    A Cannon EOS...

Planning to have a better vantage point today and less rain.

I hope y’all enjoy your weekend.

    P.S. good stories.

I don’t have many grandpa stories, my paternal grandfather died when I was a baby and my moms dad is in Texas. When we were younger we would meet him in Colorado and camp for 2 weeks, the fondest memories I remember were; shooting guns, lighting off fireworks, watching the elk come into the meadow at dusk, riding “the fat cat”
But the one the stuck with me and confused me the most was; on almost everything he owned that was carryable, was written: STOLEN FROM CHUCK XXXXX
    In big black sharpie.
I may use the slogan from time to time with my own stuff.

pork butt turned out killer!!! Marky Bark, eat your heart out!

I must be too young for this crew. Both my grandfathers were relatively mild mannered.

My paternal grandfather was one of those who worked until her couldn't then died shortly afterwards. He fell off a step ladder while he was repairing a combine when he was in his 80s. The only thing that slowed him down was the brain tumor that eventually killed him.

My maternal grandfather was pretty good at speaking his mind. When I introduced my girlfriend at the time (now wife) to him, he asked her what she does. When she told him she's a dental hygienist, his response was "I don't like them much."

All the hunting stories reminds me of a story that hit the news years back, an older guy up here in Ak ,he was attacked by a brown bear and defended himself with his knife until he was able to retrieve his rifle.
He was hunting Sitka blacktail deer, while dressing his deer he was attacked by a brown bear, out of reach of his rifle he used what he had in his reach, his knife! He survived and now has the bear rug on his wall!
Sorry,my phone won't let me load the file, Google, Gene Moe kills brown bear with knife, and let that roll around in your dome.lol

The law prohibiting carrying a weapon while out hunting game… it’s no wonder it isn’t enforced.

I gotcha bro. Mods here have a zero tolerance policy on political posts, even images. It's one of the things that makes this site a breath of fresh air and more like a brotherhood than a forum. We're free of the bickering and fighting the politics bring and instead argue about important things, like how wrong @Jim LE 1301 is for putting tomatoes on bread with melted cheese.
