At least it's got aftermarket leather, I think? Still not worth it to me, knowing what I paid for mine, not even having 8k more miles and heavily optioned. I'd want to check the frame also. California climate or not, if it's been hanging out at the beach its whole life, not just for this shoot ... salt is salt, air, sand or road.

 

It was the dimmer switch. It's bad. I just jumped the wires and now the dash lights work. I may replace the dimmer switch eventually. But for now the lights work and I can pass safety inspection. Onto the next item(s) on the list. Too bad I only get 1 day off a week and it was raining most of the day and the garage was occupied with another project, my uncle and father were trying to get an old Kawasaki bayou 220 to run. So I didn't get much done. Oh well.

Just tossing this out there. If the dimmer is a type of potentiometer ("pot") or slide, sometimes the simple act of pulling it and spraying the guts with contact cleaner (I prefer DeOxit, but CRC contact cleaner is fine!) and rotating the knob from lock to stop will return it to operation, and even lubricate and extend the life of the module.

I use this regularly with vintage audio equipment, like pitch knobs on turntables, volume knobs on receivers, crossfaders on mixers, volume and tone knobs on guitars. Knobs that were fully not-functional due to corrosion, after a good cleaning, snap back to life.

If you don't have a good contact cleaner in your arsenal of tools, I can't recommend it enough. If you have a Guitar Center or Sam Ash, they may have Deoxit D5 or G5 in-stock and ready to pick up.

Yes, I've been working on the piles since before I bought the RCLB

 

We need to be a little more contained due to proximity to city so we took a 60ish gallon residential gas/oil drum, plasma'd in half, welded legs on, and drilled the bottom for circulation and use that as a pit. You can easily fit half a dozen friends around it.

Got a buddy to build a custom top for it with a removable grill screen so I can cook on it and toss a lid on top when it's not in use. Super handy.

But I'd still prefer to be on a hunk of land outside the city limits and just have random piles.

 

A hunk of land is what I'm after down the road.... Getting harder, and harder to find.

 

Thanks! I will definitely look into that. I'd much rather have a working dimmer than a jumper and I'd much rather not have to buy a new one. So I will be trying this out next time I get some time away from work (I practically live there)

53 hours so far this week..The other feller I work with on the weekends called out. So that just leaves me. Planning for 12 hours of extra OT this afternoon starting at 4:30pm.

Just got off work at 5:00 am. Should be a fun time getting home, and attempting to get some Z's before my rude awakening. Russian erryday.

 

I've been getting 55-69 watts most of the day from a 60W solar panel. From what I understand that's really good. It's been around 80 and sunny all day.

 

Very nice. What I read is that the Jackerys will only take ~65Wish max solar input. I have a 100W panel and was trying to figure out why it wouldn't go beyond ~65-66W input - that was why. No big deal, 65W input for a few hours is more than enough to recharge. My fridge only draws 40W and that's when it cycles.

 

Also, I like the Ronald McDonald tent.

 

I'm not jealous @FirstGenVol not at all.

I'm doing garage upgrades, allegedly, and just finished putting together a HF welding cart and welding table. Last time I got a table it was missing half of the hardware. This time according to the list, it was missing 25% of the hardware but I had too many a beer to drive it over so I went into assembly mode. Its done, here is the extra hardware. Not sure how that happened.

Black nuts and bolts and cotter pin were from the cart. The 4 washers and 2 bolts are from the table. To the coffee can of random shit they go.

 

I bought the plate meant for mounting with a welder under a Jeep seat or somewhere on a Jeep that has tubular steel. I’ll fab the rest, but it gives me the base plate all drilled as a start.
