We've had an 8pm bedtime as long as I can remember, and they haven't fought it yet, so we keep rolling with it.

My old lady wants to get a “huge” bed so we can all sleep together; I sleep with one in a different room than her with the other one. It’s like no, let’s wing them of this having to sleep with us bs, so we can sleep in the same bed alone. I don’t think we’ve “slept” together in like 2 years!

That was never an option. We never let any of the kids (3) sleep in our bed, and we never spent any time in theirs.

It get's better, as they become more independent . For me, ones 6 and twins are 11. You'll have some moments you'll miss them being little. I'm dreading the upcoming teen years.

    Awesome!!
Yeah that’s what I keep hearing and seeing with my own eyes. That’s why I try to make the most of the situation and remember that; it’s not ideal, but I won’t get to do that ever again. There’s going to be a day when he doesn’t want me to snuggle with him. So I’ll take what I can get now.
And yes I’m nervous for the teen years too!!!

Yeah, I get Manny asleep no later than 8:30. I get up at 5. After I'm asleep I have no control what he does. I'll wake up in the morning and trip over toys and such. I'm like..wtf? He gets up in the middle of the night. He's doing quite well. 1st grade now. Had a "parent" teacher conference last week. His teacher loves him. He sneaks food at night. Cheese, Ice cream, and makes a PB sandwich sometimes. While I'm asleep. I'd do the same thing. Apparently a big appetite.....

Grandpa story first; warning, this is a bit of a tear jerker.
second hand, from my mom. She was born in 1920. Little farm in Nebraska. During the depression, farms usually had food, but nothing else. They made dresses for the girls from flower sacks and put layers of old newspapers in their shoes to cover up the holes worn through. Anyway, I think my mom was about 12 or 13, and had 3 younger brothers and the field of corn was about ready to harvest. A huge thunderstorm moved in and hail, the size of golfballs just decimated the crop. Cleaned the stalks bare. I can just imagine how my grandpa felt looking at the devastation. I know how my mom felt standing next to him holding his hand. After about 5 minutes of silence, he turned to my mom and said, “Martha, how about you and your brothers run down there to where that hail has piled up and bring some back up here, let’s make some ice cream.
I’m sure he was heartbroken but would never show it.

Damn I think I’m caught up.

@War Machine fuk that’s some great grandfather stories.

I like where this thread went today. Nice to hear stories about the old timers that had a set of balls still.

    my story.

this one is not about my grandfather it is one about my grandmother on my dads side. She was a born hard Appalachian wife of a tobacco farmer. My grandmother was serious about her garden and loved canning. One morning while I was up there she came yelling into my room waking me up to tell me and my cousin to get our asses outside and shoot a deer that was in her garden. We quickly jumped out of bed, grabbed a rifle of the rack and proceeded to get outside and find this deer. My cousin got a clean shot on her culprit and dropped him. This was way out of season for shooting deer but she was very proud of us.

Now to the good part. This woman always kept a double barrel 12g at the front door. She was known to answer the door holding it if she did not know or was not expecting you on her front porch. So later this day there was a knock on the door and she grabbed that 12g and swung the door open. There stood the local fish and game officer with a bit of shock in his eye. He proceeded to introduce himself and asked “ mam we got a report have y’all been shooting deer up here?” My grandmother looked him straight in the eye and said “look sonny when them damn deer stop getting in my garden I’ll stop shooting them!” Officer just looked at her with a surprised look on his and said “no problem mam y’all have a good day”

    I miss her very much.

@ToyoMafia Tom, any thoughts on offering a non-trucker (no mesh) hat big enough for those of us with fat heads. :anonymous: Maybe like the ones with a velcro strap in the back.

Don't know about the rest of the crew, but I would buy 1 or 3 of them.

I’d like to add a idea/request for the other people with fat fingers.
If it’s not feasible, I under stand, but what about a pull tab like this, it would make speed slapping so much less stressful!
