Sounds like my morning trip to the crapper... best way to start the morning is a good shit and an update on the overnight shenanigans on the ToyoMafia thread.

No sir. My grandpa had a Ruger Blackhawk .44 on his hip though. This is a story I’ll always remember like it was yesterday. It’s strangely one of my favorite memories, so please indulge me for the long story.

Rural Texas. The morning of December 24th, 1997.

My grandpa had gotten in bad health (actually passed away a couple of years after this), and needed me to go with him to check his hog traps.
Besides the traps, he had a snare set up also. There was a hog in the snare. He pulls the K-Bar off his hip, holds it out to me, and says “J-Baby, cut its throat”. I looked at the .44 in his holster, the rifle on his back, and then at him. He’s just looking at me and holding the knife out.
I was 21 years old at the time. I knew this was ridiculous, but he was my hero. My grandpa walked on water. I wasn’t going to question him, so I went to work. The hog was exhausted and didn’t resist much.
It took me what seemed like an hour to kill it. Turns out that hide is pretty damned tough. I eventually just resorted to stabbing the shit out of its neck until it finally died.
We then went to his traps, where he used the aforementioned Ruger Blackhawk to kill a few more that had been caught. We loaded them all up on the truck and headed back to his house.
My great uncle, his brother, was there waiting to help skin and clean the hogs. He looks at them and asks my grandpa “Speedy what the f-k did you do to that one’s throat?”. (Speedy was the nickname he’d gone by his whole life.) At that point grandpa starts laughing his ass off and tells him. My uncle looks at me covered in blood and exhausted and says “Speedy that’s f-d up” and then starts laughing too. I just got back in my truck and left.
In the meantime, I was only supposed to be gone for a couple of hours or so. It was Christmas Eve, and my wife and newborn daughter were waiting for me to get back so we could go to her grandmother’s house. We didn’t have a cell phone back then so I had no way of letting her know where I was or why I was way late getting back.
When I finally walked in, she’s ready to light into me. Then she saw my clothes and asked what the hell happened. Being so late, then showing up with blood all over me probably scared the hell out of her. I just told her “Grandpa had a little fun at my expense today. I’m getting in the shower and I’ll get ready ASAP. Just throw my clothes away”.
This is one of many great stories about my grandpa. It’s been over twenty years since he passed and I still miss the shit out of him.

    that depends on pressure.
212° would be at atmospheric pressure (0 psig).
200 psig steam would be closer to 390°

Is that for shooting roaches? I want one.

I was doing that but these damn threads are so long that I got hemorrhoids. Now I start reading them on the toilet and when the business is done, I move to my cushy donut chair.

Welcome back, btw. I was wandering yesterday and read your truck thread. I have two sets of those seat jackers coming. I told my wife the doctor recommended them (for the hemorrhoids).

    Cool.
I've worked on 900lb before.* It's some crazy shit.

*Not live - it was a cold outage. But the piping to hold in 900lb steam is pretty crazy. We've also worked on 800psi natural gas mains.

I wish it could actually fire projectiles - that would be fun as hell. The stock folds, magazine release will drop the mag, it's got three 300BO dummy rounds and the charging handle will actually run the bolt (including popping the dust cover) and chamber and eject. Safety selector will go to giggle mode, but doesn't actually block the trigger in safe, and the trigger moves but doesn't actually do anything.

It was a bit of an impulse buy, but fun.

Yeah that’s some crazy stuff, thankfully I don’t have to deal with that sort of energy.
I have worked at a natural gas fired generating station; the gas screaming thru the main is pretty impressive

He definitely was. My second favorite is from when I was in 7th or 8th grade. My parents used to travel quite a bit, and would be out of town for a week or two at a time. I’d stay with him while they were gone.

During one of those occasions, I’d gotten in the habit of swiping packs of cigarettes out of his carton before I left for school. One morning he asked me if I’d been stealing his smokes. Of course I denied it. He said “Bullshit. I know you are. Start taking your grandma’s. I’m running short.”

So I have two short stories.

First up is my great-grandpa. The old guy was 94 years old and insisted on climbing 30+ feet up into the cedar trees surrounding his property with a chainsaw so he could prune them every year. He was a tough man and fully independent until age 96. That's when the busy-body aunts got involved and insisted he be put into a home. He was dead within a year, at age 97. He probably would have made 100 if they'd have left him alone.

Next up is my grandpa on the other side of the family. He loved card games, especially Rook. His favorite part was the secret partners and informal alliances involved in the game. He was the best partner to have in the game...until he decided to throw the partnership out the window at take the points himself. He'd chortle like a crazy man, look you straight in the eye while laying down whatever card would screw you over and then yell "Zing!!". To this day, I use "Zing!!" whenever someone gets got by a play I make.
