I'm liking everything I see so far except that front grille. I know, I know, it's a common complaint that's reaching the "shut-up and live with it" factor. Maybe it will grow on me or they'll make another version that paint matches the truck color across the lower section. That continuous black reminds me too much of the Ford F150s a couple years ago that had the large upside down "U" grilles.

The $8500 off is for my vastly delayed F150 custom order. My TRD Pro was MSRP + free cat shield (uninstalled)

It's Houston, so yeah they have lots of 2wd's. The point is they are advertising them all as marked down. Just trying to help those looking and being told you have to pay over sticker.

The good news is they will all tell you up front so you can shop around if need be. One dealership in Memphis has an $1,800 dealer add on (similar care package deal) and another has a $700 dealer add on. I told both I'm honestly fine with that as long as they'll give me MSRP on the exact truck I want.

    Damn, people are push-overs

Makes sense. In my region, 84% of the people vote in every new tax presented. People are meek about demanding a good deal, or money comes too easy for them

Mine is fully refundable too, the dealer told me, and I have it in writing, that they are charging MSRP :)

Those were supposed to be able to run on 87 as well, so i'm skeptic on the 22' being able to run on 87 and be fine. My Tundra had no issues running 87 with the 5.7.

Is that common practice? Apologies, I have never purchased a new one before or put an order in. :)

Which part? The deposit or the charging above MSRP?
This is my first time as well, but as I understand it the charging above MSRP is because of the crazy market we are in right now, but it is not unheard of if the vehicle is especially popular.

I was referring to the refundable deposit, I will have to get in touch with my local dealer.

I can't figure out why anyone would even buy a 2wd truck. That to me seems like a waste.

I want to wait to see it in person and drive it. I’m on the fence. I’d never pay MSRP or above tho, these will be selling at invoice in a year, not some rare edition. My 2017 Limited is perfect, 56,000 miles or so and I’ve wrenched every maintenance item myself, including ordering the special transfer case fluid and changing that out at 40K when I did the diffs. I know the 2017 will last forever and a day. I’m not so sure about the turbos, and I am definitely not interested in any hybrid system. But I like the redesign exterior and the interior is obviously a big step up. Who knows….

People (ate up with the dumbass) are paying over sticker for a number of vehicles- has nothing to do with 4Ă—4 vs 2x4

Being from Canada I can see why you think that, but you really don't need it here in the south. Here it just means extra cost and lower fuel economy for something you might need for one day out of every couple of years

He provides no insight whatsoever. It's just repetitive jargon that sounds like it's read directly from a Toyota brochure. He's also been wrong multiple times leading up to the Tundra launch such as the excusive Pro color being gold and that hybrid models would be available this year.

Actually it is not that different here, at least in some areas. I am sure my Canadian brothers to the west likely have a different story but my practical experience is just as you described the reasoning in the South. I have driven my Tundra through 2 harsh Ontario winters in all sorts of conditions and have used 4WD a total of ZERO times out of need. Of course here 4WD is not a choice, you can only buy the Tundra in 4x4, so mine is so equipped. I would have spec'd it that way too if it was not standard, just in case. I do believe it is great to have in the situation where you do need it, but so far that need has not appeared, at least for me. So it is reasonable to think that there is a decent size market for RWD only trucks in the warmer areas of North America. Especially if you consider fleet sales and such.
