As I understand it, Toyota penalizes dealers who do this. If they special order a vehicle for a customer and the customer backs out of the deal when it arrives then Toyota assumes that the dealer has done something sneaky and they lose two of their allocations the next month.

The 2022’s won’t be special customer orders. It’ll either be dealer ordered or Toyota delivered so they can markup whatever they get because they aren’t guaranteed to get more.

That’s why the lists and people positioning crack me up. You either will have to take what they get or wait a while oh that list.

You don't know that for certain though so why act like it? My dealer said custom orders will be fine and my uncle who works for Toyota corporate said the same thing.

That's not my understanding... The dealers will be able to order their allocations first, but then customer orders will open up. That's why I have a deposit down

Every dealer I’ve talked to said initial run is dealer order / Toyota delivered. Customer orders won’t be the first delivered.

If that’s the case I sure hope they’re faster than literally every other auto maker or else you’ll be waiting a while.

What color nightshade I was torn between that and the pro. I liked the nightshade a lot.

But if you're on the list the dealer order can be your order. Especially if it's a Pro because the only customizable part is going to be exterior and interior colors. Even if they're not the first deliveries, I don't expect the wait time to be longer than a couple of months especially if you can go ahead and get on the list right now.

Hopefully not the only customizable parts, I know for sure I don't want that pano moonroof.

On the Pro it's standard, and pretty much everything is. The current Pro has no options you can add or take away from it, just accessories only.

Only customizable part of a pro is colors? That’d be a shame. There has to be packages. The pano roof is an option, red interior is an additional option (from foot notes) and there have been two different versions of the exterior. Body colored and black colored handles and mirror caps right?

That's how it is for the 2021 models. If you get a Pro the only customization you have outside of accessories is exterior and interior color. The pano roof is an option on other trims, but I'm pretty sure it's standard for Pro and up. The red interior is an option, which is what I was referring to when I said interior color. I believe the two different versions of exterior details you are talking about is referring to the Limited Off-Road and Pro versions, which are completely different trim levels..

Go to Toyota's website and build a 2021 TRD Pro, and then tell me if it lets you add or take away any options other than exterior/interior color. It won't

When Toyota teased the images the pano roof footnotes said with “optional panoramic sunroof.”

it was a hot item in this thread as a lot of people didn’t want it standard.

No... that information has not been released... hexstorm said "The current Pro has no options you can add or take away from it, just accessories only." and you asked for a source for that information. That is what I provided

I know for me, if it comes with a pano sunroof standard, that is enough for me to not get the TRD-Pro.

Maybe it will be. I could've swore I watched a video of someone saying that Pano is standard for the Pros but I've watched so many videos at this point I can't remember which one it was. If I find it I'll let you know.

Just curious, why do you not like the Pano? I think it's a much needed upgrade seeing that basically every other truck brand is offering it.

Agreed... as long as they don't have crazy issues like the 1st gen raptor had I think it will be pretty cool

I can’t find the pic but here’s the quote from the footnotes.

"TRD Pro interior shown in Red with available panoramic moonroof. Prototype shown with options."

Just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean it needs to be done (if everyone else was jumping off a skyscraper...). I don't want a moonroof period.

Everyone wants to be able to pick and choose every little option, but honestly if you want that you'd be better off choosing a domestic truck. You can pretty much customize those however you want, but it also drives the cost of the truck up. I'd rather keep things simple with a few optional packages here and there to keep costs down.

I do like having the Pano, but it could be a problem if it lowers the ceiling too much. In other cars with sunroofs, my head hits the ceiling and that would be a problem. I also like the ability to close it off when the sun is baking me so I will probably have some ceramic tint put on it to block a lot of the heat coming in.
