I wouldn't worry about aftermarket airbags having issues down the road. Factory air suspension from what I've seen over the years people go to traditional shocks when the air setup goes south. Kinda like Toyota's X-REAS, most people don't bother buying X-REAS replacement shocks they rip everything out and install Bilsteins, Icon, whatever. Did that on my '08 Runner, went with Toytec BOSS which are Eibach shocks and coils.

I added Firestone airbags on the '08 and my daughters '07 Runner with the BOSS suspension also, combined 240k miles with no leaks. They're a good thing to enhance cargo management and manage tongue weight.

I'd install them on the '22 Tundra stock suspension instead of paying extra for factory air or the adaptive dynamic shocks or whatever they're called.

You will have to order one at that price point. The SR5 Crewmax 4x4 TRD Offroad can easily have a ~$3k range with dealer add-ons.

I guess I should say, keep it a long time, because across most brands that I know of, the air suspension systems are one of the things that become problematic and why introduce a system that will cause problems in the future if you don't have to.

I do wonder how and if current cost of materials, supply chain issues will factor into MSRP pricing. Obviously Toyota came up with a number a long time ago prior to the pandemic but does everything that has transpired over the last 18 months change any of that. A bump in pricing is to be expected but perhaps it's going to be a bit more than expected with the current economy as it is.

Materials are slowly coming back down to earth so I would suspect that won't play a measurable factor (at least I hope). The supply chain issue and chip shortages is a different story. My wife's factory order for a BMW X3 has all but been a nightmare and is basically a Frankenstein of a vehicle now due to this. I can imagine certain features and/or options being delayed due to this. Every single MFG has been effected in some way, I would tend to think Toyota will as well. I highly suspect this could contribute to the TRD Pro's later than normal release.

If any of these tundra get close to $70k they won't sell a lot of them. Just 2 weeks ago I was on a GMC lot and they had a 2022 gmc sierra 2500 HD at4 diesel crewmax for 79k.

Yup, if I'm going to spend $70k+ for a truck it's either going to be a Raptor or more than likely a 3/4 ton diesel, neither of which I'd particularly like to have. But...once you cross that $65k barrier I think Toyota knows their competition and what people will cross shop won't be in their favor.

My thoughts exactly. I don't want a GMC but for a few thousand more I'd take a bigger truck. Just searched that lot and it's gone but they have a Denali online and did a quick search around me for a 2022 and there are several in driving distance (central Florida) for under 80k

^^This... also I am pretty sure that Toyota is smart enough to realize that sure with a lower price tag your profit margin per vehicle is lower, but your potential customer base increases drastically, and your sales will increase greatly. In the end you can make more money selling an item at a lower price.

I actually had a line on a loaded 21 AT4 3.0 Duramax for $57k not but a few weeks ago. Part of me is wondering if that was unwise to turn down. Mainly, due to the fact I have been waiting for this darn TRD Pro for some time now.

As an owner of a 21 AT4 with the baby duramax... I can assure you, you made the right decision turning it down.

I might have to PM you about this. I have a family member likely going to order the refreshed 22 model baby Duramax here relatively soon once they are released.

GM has stopped making the 3.0 duramax for the time being, no word on when they are going to start back up from what I hear, and it has nothing to do with the chip shortage.

Exactly, for 60-65k I can get a damn nice f250 lariat with the big block gas motor… and won’t be wondering or trying to calculate tow weights or payload capacity.. but it’s not a Toyota… and I bleed Toyota red…

I bet you $1k if they sell the Pro at $70k and the Platinum/1794 at $65k they will sell every single one of those trucks with absolutely zero probelms. That is MSRP prices and then not budging off of them.

Used 2019 and 2020 TRD Pros with 25k miles are being sold for $58k to $65k and people are not even blinking at that price.

I read about the problems they were having. That and the outdated interior on the ‘21 are why I’m on a Tundra forum.

This market will not last forever…. And a fool and his money …. Go ahead and pay 58-65k for a used Pro…

Your example is unfortunately skewed. Used car market and prices have nearly zero impact on what an OEM chooses to sell their vehicles at. Will dealers mark them up to $70k, most likely yes. Will Toyota themselves make nearly a $15k jump in MSRP for a loaded TRD Pro. Absolutely, not for more reasons than you can count. One being that no OEM has ever had that large of a jump in base vehicle cost...ESPECIALLY Toyota. Your used car prices are a supplier related bubble that is short lived and every marketing or business focused entity knows this every day to Sunday.

Now, do I agree there is unfortunately a lot of "stupid" people willing to pay ridiculously high mark ups and certain dealers/markets taking advantage, yes there is. But that is short lived and what happens in 6-12 months once everything begins trending back to normal? Is Toyota going to say just kidding, now they are $60k. I think not...

I think people need to clearly distinguish what Toyota is actually going to list their vehicles at meaning MSRP versus what dealers are going to sell them at...large difference there. Nice of you to bet $1k btw...

If you want to lose that $1k I'll take it.. if they put that pro at msrp I'll give it 3 months and you'll see them on lots just sitting. Toyota says the tundra won't be on a short supply so not sure how many idiots will spend that money but I'm sure after 3 months most of them will already spent that money that we're willing.

^^^^^They will sell and the Pro price will be in the 72 range. But when the chips get to pouring in all those trucks will hit the market and with the market and the economy going to crash the prices will fall because they along with every other dealer will not have a choice but to lower the prices for trucks. Reverend!!!!!!!

BTW, I actually agree with you 100%. By end of 2022 I think prices will start to settle. However, this is the market is in.

I cant remember another time when the auto industry has been this crazy and inverted. However, I am not too old.......

I sure hope so as well...seems to be everything is like this. Sure be nice when you can walk into a dealership, test drive a vehicle, then haggle on price even a little bit. Now, it's drive by a dealer they have nothing on their lot, they take you to some dark dungeon, show you a 1996 Tundra with 300k on it and say it's the last of it's kind best price of $49,999 I got 3 others ready to buy

Was talking to sales manager at Toyota dealership , he was saying chatter is 3000-4500 hike in msrp from current base prices. Dealership has been given lot of add on options. Toyota doesn’t want market adjustment markups.

Does look really good actually. Seems Lunar Rock is all but confirmed then. That vehicle for whatever reason looks to sit a lot higher than the pre-production versions. Weird that is also looks to have 20's on it and not the TRD Pro BBS wheels.
