Anyone had any experience with hail damage with their Tundra? Specifically the roof.

We had a small hail storm come through this evening and the tundra was out in the open. They weren’t that big, but seem to put a lot of dents and waves in the roof. Didn’t see anything on the hood or side panels.

Hoping the sun tomorrow will help pop them out. The image below doesn’t really show it well. Already notified insurance via app.

My son’s Tundra was caught in a very bad hail storm in Knoxville TN and his truck roof and hood ended up looking like a golf ball. Good thing the hood is fine. Pictures of my son’s truck attached.

Wow, yeah mine wasn’t that bad thankfully.

it’s tough sitting in the house watching your vehicle get hit like that with nothing you can do.

I don't know if you looked into Paintless Dent Repair before, but I highly recommend it. I had a local place repair about 8 different vehicles for me and it's also cheaper out of pocket as compared to the body shop.

I’m trying to get a hold of a guy right now for that. I figured I’d get the quote from body shop. They may also offer PDR but never hurts to get an estimate.

If the PDR is cheaper than my deductible, I’ll just pay out of pocket.

I am guessing it will cost you about $250 or less depending on the PDR company. Something to think about is that most body shops usually hire PDR companies to do the work and then charge the customers more for the service...

So the PDR recommended a body shop, which I already had lined up.

Had the estimate done today and $5,400 to have the roof replaced. Only minor repairable damage to the areas above the doors. But the roof was not repairable.

Huh? That roof looks repairable to me. I’d visit another 1 or 2 shops.

Oh I can get you a better picture from the back. Lots of larger dents, probably from falling debris from the tree it was under.

the one I posted was from the drivers door and doesn’t show how bad it is.

Yes sir, I had a whole new roof installed on mine. Took forever to get my Tundra back. There's not enough PDR or filler that could have repaired mine.

From the pictures (to me it looks like it can be repaired).
I think a good PDR guy could work those out. I'm not an expert, just experienced significantly more damage.

Maybe just get a lift, and never see the roof again.

Edit: now I looked at your profile picture of the truck. Your current lift should do. :)

When I first posted this, I only took a photo and looked from the drivers door back. After rolling up my tonneau cover and looking at it from the bed, it’s much worse than the original picture showed.
A highly recommended PDR guy said he wouldn’t touch it. To bad and should replace the roof. We think that limbs from the tree it was under also fell on it.

Haha, yeah I’ve thought about not doing anything. You can’t see it from the ground anyway.

With your lift you need to make sure the body shop you choose has a truck booth otherwise you’ll get a dirty mess painted out in the shop.
