2005 Tundra v8 Double cab rear shock suggestion

    Are the Bilstein 5100 pretty good or just go with the yellow blue factory TRD's?

    You won't be able to get the 5100s new until January at current availability, they're sold out everywhere.

    Pretty sure the yellow/blue TRD are just Bilstein 4600s which appear to be available (for now).

    Rear shocks whether 4600 or 5100 are just shock absorbers. Neither model in rear offers lift, I believe. Check the other thread at the top of the forum right now discussing.

    Unless you know "Boost Projects" is an authorized Bilstein reseller, I wouldn't buy it.

    Buying on Amazon is one of the fastest way to land yourself counterfeit parts.

    And it looks like "Trends Auto" is the only other seller you can buy from thru Amazon.

    I don't see either of those sellers as authorized. I wouldn't trust it if I were you.

    Summit Racing had some stock. Lots of 4600 stock. Some 5100 stock. Also 6110 stock.

    Bilstein 5100's, SPC UCA's, ATS HD leaves
    Bilstein 5100's are a very good shock for their price-point. The key to running them is they are designed and engineered for heavier unsprung weight. If you are running a lighter weight wheel/tire/axle and no off-roading you may be disappointed in them. If, however, you are running a heavier wheel/tire/axle combo and off-roading, you may be satisfied with them. I've run 2 sets in the past and currently have them on my truck and I'm personally very satisfied with their performance. Haven't looked into their availability lately. If you're satisfied/mostly satisfied with the way your truck currently rides I would say stick with the 4600's.

    I have old toyota 4600 on them they are worn out so i can't compare them with new! I might do some light off-roading but nothing serious and i don't carry heavy loads as a second thought i might just stick with 4600.

    Just based on your description of what your intended use for them is and will be I would say stick with the 4600's. The internet is full of sob-stories from disappointed 5100 consumers who misapplied them because they failed to read Bilstein's literature or consult them before purchase. Don't be one of them. Lol.

    Will you do other potential buyers and those on the fence a favor and come back here after install and logging a few miles to give your impression? I'd certainly like to hear what you think.

    Easy, also 4600's.

    I just put a used set another member was kind enough to give me on my truck and the ride is much improved over the 169k mi OEM shocks. I did put longer top hat studs and level/lean correction spacers on as well.
