slowly, but surely I will build up my truck. Probably will do a 4inch lift (3 suspension +1 body), new wheels and tires, probably will have to carve out the wheel wells to accommodate, new front and rear bumpers, roof rack, and who knows where to from there.

Looks like you have a good plan to start. What size tires are you looking to put on?
I would suggest that if they can fit with 3" lift then don't install the body lift. Body lifts get bad reviews and don't help at all unless you need the extra clearance for a certain tire size.

To start I tinted the windows with a little help from my pal Eric with SPF Sun Control.

    A few before pics
    IMG_3530.jpg IMG_3531.jpg
    IMG_3532.jpg

now up with the tint! Fortunately it was pre-cut. Definitely makes things go quicker. We laid the tint on the outside of the window first and used a heat gun to help form it to the shape of the window.
    IMG_3533.jpg

now for the back windows. I apologize, I did not take any photos of the tint actually going up. I just peeled off the plastic and sprayed the windows with soapy water (made sure they were clean first) to help me line up the tint without the adhesive activating immediately.
    IMG_3534.jpg

All done, in about 30 minutes. I parked it outside for 3 days instead of the garage, somehow it survived. My HOA was not impressed, they hate pick-ups and by the 3rd day I had a nice little note saying that unless I was a visiting guest I would have to park my truck in the garage before the 5th day or be fined $50, but I digress.

Just a few rules, park it outside in the sun as much as possible for 3-5 days, don't roll the windows down for 3-5 days ( I played it safe and went with 5).

Good to know, I was thinking maybe 31-33's. Since this is still my daily driver I didn't want to have to alter the frame yet, I would like to get 4-6 inches of lift though. I just like the way it looks at that height.

HOA has clauses in their agreement about trucks being parked in driveways? (Or just vehicles in general?)
    What is their issue there?
And I thought my HOA was strict LOL

Sounds like the HOA there wants to to drive nothing but a prius. HOA crap is getting out of hand now no pick ups?

Apartments are like that. If you are paying for a garage, you have to park in the garage so your not taking up guest parking.
Looks like town homes, maybe similar rules?
If its just because its a truck then i'm sure you can find that as vehicular discrimination.

Haha, yes it's definitely discrimination against pick-ups. There can be a beat up molester van on the street but not a 50k pick-up.

So I was cleaning out my girlfriend's parents' garage and found an old CB radio, no antenna. It works, I can receive transmissions, but not send them, I'm assuming because I don't have an antenna. I know almost nothing about CB's so if anyone is looking at this thread can you help me figure this out? I would like to take it with me to Moab Thursday night next week.

Holy smokes. you just back some memories Realistic.. WOW MAN.. showing my age here.

All you need is a antenna get one that is a magnet. Tune it you can buy a SWR meter like any truck stop to tune the antenna to the cb. ( making the antenna long or smaller). You can set it up and goto a cb shop, around truck stops and the guys in there can set it up for a small fee.

Aw come on it can't be much older than 20 years, and that's not too long ago.

Awesome, thank you for the help. Are there any brands I should look into in particular? I was thinking Cobra. I should probably mount the antenna in the bed by the cab. Do you even need to really mount the magnetic ones or do they just stick to the roof so I can feed it through my back window?

    Thanks for the help.

Brands are give and take a few. Cobra makes some goof stuff out there and you can't go wrong with there stuff. Magnet put it anywhere you want. The magnet is strong trust me, I have seen one at 110mph holding strong.

sweet, i got a cobra CBRHGA1500 36 inch antenna on the way, should be here tomorrow just in time before I leave for Moab. Is it good to mount it right on the roof over the middle rear window? I don't want to damage the antenna on trees or other things it might hit standing 3ft tall on the roof.

Also, I was wondering if anyone could tell me why my 'low fuel' light does not come on and when I fill the tank up the needle doesn't go further than between 3/4-F hash marks. I have driven it down to less than 4 gallons in the tank and it still hasn't come on.

    Thanks,

Float and sensor on the pump most likely. New fuel pump assembly would fix the problem.

hmmm alright, is that something fairly straight forward or would you recommend I take it to a shop? I see the part online for sale for the pump itself $25-40 and with the assembly and everything $200.

Also, can you recommend a good place to tune my CB?

You can either drop the tank or raise the bed up to gain access to the bolts.

Fyi get a toyota fuel pump you will thank me later if you plan on keeping the truck. Rest of the assembly i would go aftermarket.

Sliders are great for protection if you plan to wheel it..they double as a nice step too.

If you do get sliders, do it right and weld it. They work great if someone hits you from the side too ...along with preventing door dings..well, at least on your truck.

Nice, although I get the utility of expanded metal I like the solid look a little bit more and although this will change eventually, my girlfriend wears heels all the time and I don't think that will work well.

    Thanks though

Hey so I'm wondering if I should get some ARB air lockers instead of an ARB bumper (3915060 ). None of the companies that I can apply my gift card to can get me rock sliders. At this point I hope to get all 3 upgrades by the end of summer, Toy Tec lift, sliders, and either ARB bumper or lockers.

I guess it depends how much $ is on your card. Toy Tec would be good to start(they have different ones price wise) ARB locker would be great but pricey. ARB bumper still pricey but not as much as the locker setup. IMO.

Arb makes some of the best stuff out there. that said

Imo the pics out there i have seen for our 1st gen tundras, is very should i say lacking in the arb world. If you compare it to my tacoma arb bumper now thats a bumper, but the tundra 1st gens really are should we say weak? Not much protection ( i was very disappointed in arb in this) no hoops( only the front grill) nothing really to help a strike. Why mine is doesnt have a arb bumper.

If you go the Toy Tec route first, hook up with Sean first. He will steer you the right direction. Right Sean?
