Hmmm ... the smaller screen looks interesting but I'm sure other option packages/choices will put me back in the giant one.

As for that Kia, while overall that interior does look very nice, that screen looks anything but properly integrated. Like many other cars of late, it looks like a laptop screen just glued to the dash as an afterthought.

That looks great. I'll happily give up Android Auto for that if I need to. I don't need or want a tablet computer in my dash.

You'll probably still get AA with that one but maybe not wireless AA?

    I completely agree with this.
I can't fathom the mindset of someone that thinks sticking a screen up above and beyond anything else on the dash makes it look good.
I am all about making things functional, but if I wanted a tablet to stick up on my dash, I would use some double sided sticky tape and throw one up there. I don't want to pay thousands of dollars for a manufacturer to do the same like it is an afterthought.

Interesting how they moved some TRD lettering, etc into the cabin of the SR5 TRD Off-Road. Is the 14" screen an option with an SR5?

I heard that the smaller screen has everything the bigger one has except for Toyota navigation and over-the-air updates.

I like the bigger screen because my vision is not what it used to be.

The SR5 TRD Sport at the reveal had the 14" screen. So far, I've seen various SR5 interior pics with both the 8" and the 14"....
Either it'll be an option, or just a pre-production error

It's funny, you see a lot of their cost cutting. No full time AWD or automatic 4wd, no fancy tailgate, no generator in the bed of the hybrid...

...But we got three different screen options even though we only needed two!

Meh. Honestly, Bluetooth and a screen for the backup camera is all I need. I stream Spotify and that's it. Phone calls can come through Bluetooth. Texts can wait until I'm parked. I don't even listen to the radio anymore. Don't need navigation, video watching abilities, text messaging or whatever else people do when they should be focused on driving.

Geez...I sound like an old man...

Frankly, those are the two things I'd rather not have anyways.

Navigation - I use CarPlay anyways.
OTA updates - handy, but it's not exactly hard to do an update via USB. ALTHOUGH OTA updates currently occur in my SR5, so it's entirely possible that it's just that - hearsay.

My innate reaction to to dislike the big screen, but if I can run navigation apps like GAIA on it, I might be convinced

I really hope that is true. I am going with the TRD Pro and do not expect to see 3 inches beyond what that currently has from the factory. Maybe another 2 via a spacer lift. Either way the goal is the same, 35s. But I do hope its suspension and not spacers.

I believe small screen will have apple carplay and android auto so you can use your phone for maps but have it display on the truck screen.

If I remember right, I thought I heard a couple of them say in their initial vids that they would be getting a chance to drive them in October. No exact date though.

Plug your phone into the truck and activate Android Auto or Apple Carplay, depending on which brand of phone you have. Then your map should show on the truck screen.

It looks very much like the Highlander big screen and actually it is very well executed. As for the big scene, I’ll take it over a smaller screen any day of the week. The bigger screen makes all the on screen functionality easier to see And use which is key as we get older.

Our fleet (3) of cars has a mix of built-in navigation and AA.

When AA Google Maps works, it's excellent. However, sometimes on long drives, or if the phone happens to be running a buggy version of Android (we all know this happens occasionally) there can be issues.
I find the OEM navigation in my Q60 to be far more consistent.
I use both equally, but I kind of prefer OEM navigation.
