If the Tundra is "class leading" as you say, it'll be doing so with a weight penalty as it is not as light as the all aluminum Fords.
I'm guessing best case scenario is the Tundra will do about the same certain trims of 3.5EB, which isn't bad considering the Tundra will probably be a few hundred pounds heavier.

And Henry Jones YT comment carries the same weight as any of our comments.

Yeah I was kind of thinking something like that. Kind of ironic that I will buy a new truck and then have to frame a platform inside!

I would like to know the weight savings they came up with. With all the hoopla Ford made about aluminum body panels and all the crap GM game them for it, I find it odd that Sweers/Toyota have barely mentioned the aluminum panels and their impact on the weight of the truck.

From what I have been able to find, the Titan was/is the heaviest truck in the segment, but I know the Tundra wasn't far off.

As an owner of a White Shepherd and 2 GSD's, I completely understand.
I have a 2019 Platinum 4x4, and I am rather anal about keeping my vehicles well cared for and nice. At the same time, I love to take my dogs with me, and the love going for rides too.
For my truck, while I realize it isn't the new 22 model, I purchased a rear seat cover. does very well protecting my truck while allowing my dogs to join my on trips out.

I would suggest something like this for the new model too. A you know, dogs don't know when they have muddy feet and how that affects our interiors lol.

    I hope that helps, GLWS.

It really would have been nice if they could have made the back seats fold flat with a durable platform like the Tacoma. It is hands down one of the handiest features ever, so much so that, it gives me pause on the Tundra with its lack of usable (for other than human seating) utilization of the back seat area.

I would probably have to pull all the seats out to utilize it like I want to.

Yep, until we see the actual numbers, it’s all just speculation.
The original was so well stated, and since I was quoting, I wanted to give credit.

TBH, I wouldn't want it to be as light as the F150's. Some of my friends tell me, after towing things similar to what I tow, that towing is 'easier but more squirrelly' with an F150. In fact, one guy I know (his fault, he admitted it) bought an F150 due to moar power, and traded it in a few months later because towing anywhere near its limits made him scared of what might happen.

I likes me some MPG but not at the expense of safety.

I think someone here was complaining about the shape of the tailgate? When I was out on the road today, I saw a previous gen Ram and a current or previous gen F150 (didn't see the front end) that look to be a similar shape. I can't remember what the GM ones look like but I don't think they've been "flat" like the ones on the 2.5 gen Tundras since 2013 either.

You can get covers for rain and such, fans for the heat, its double walled to protect from the temps. I mean its way safer then anything else and 5 star crash rated so idk why anyone would have reasons to judge.

I have thought about that too.
    My hesitation is 2 fold.
    1) Two of my dogs would be terrified. Two of my 3 are rescues and dealing with the fearful, low confidence limits our options on what creates a positive situation with the dog.

    2) In the summer heat my dogs would roast. Especially my White Shepherd. Her undercoat is very thick and driving around for a few hours in the sun would be unsafe for her.

I do agree though, securing them someway would be much better.

I think 26 combined is a little high, the Lexus car this motor is in doesn't get that combined.

reading on the engine in the Lexus car and "As for fuel economy — the rear-wheel drive LS will get City 19 mpg/ Highway 29 mpg/ Combined 23 mpg, while the all-wheel drive model will rate at City 18 mpg/ Highway 27 mpg/ Combined 21 mpg."

I just saw the 22 Tundra is being used as the pace car for the NASCAR race in Vegas. It actually looks really good in real life.

    1794 with brown interior??

I sold my 17’ 1794 a few months ago and patiently waited for the release. I am actually surprised at the new truck and like what I see. My two buying options are orange TRD or Windchill pearl 1794. The only problem is that I have not seen the new brown interior. That was my favorite feature of my old truck.

In the TFL interview with Sweers, I recall Sweers mentioning that he'd muck up the tan interior and talked about a chocolate brown.

Truly a question out of ignorance: why do you say this is safer? Is it a matter of containment? I’ve seen the harnesses for dogs to attach them to a seatbelt similar to how a human would be connected.

I should clarify, it seemed that the chocolate brown would also be available along with what we've seen.

Yeah, well there's nothing but CHEESE in the engine bay with a TTV6 so you're absolutely right. I think '22 will be a good year for Nissan's Titan.

I do not know much about the harness things. But yes its about containment and its crush resistant and can survive a rollover and things of that nature. They make sure to have the dog so it can't move around the kennel much, stand up and turn around thats it. Which still allows the dog to sleep comfortably and adjust if needed. There's been multiple people in severe crash and the dog come out of the kennel completely fine.

They have videos comparing there kennel to others during crash test. Its very interesting. Even the forces at a 30mph crash are crazy. Its very expensive, but a buy once cry once.
    https://gunner.com/pages/crash-tested

My current double cab actually allows me to fit the kennel on the floor of the rear cab. I've also strapped in in the bed and even put it on the back seats of a camry and strapped into into the child seat anchor points, dog has road in it for 14 hour trips to Texas multiple times in the camry. Buts its only a medium. Anything bigger I wouldn't be able to do that.

Don't mean to derail this thread. Back to the 2022.
