My first day here, Tundra TRD owner. Now 175K on it and seriously LOVE this truck. Came here to check legitimate TRD vs fakes. Trying to order 22 TRD PRO but told maybe March 22. Ouch...Thoughts on that??? SO, looking at '21 since I love my 5.7 beast.
NOW, FAKE TRD's everywhere...seriously. Isn't that fraud to scam unsuspecting Buyers?

Great info here to search for vins, options lists etc to confirm.... is it real, is it a badge/decal scam.
LOVE the "how to buy at truck" I just read. Priceless:))
Tnx in advance for the help and info.

Welcome from the sticks of Idaho! I joined the Tundra ranks 1 1/2 years ago. I have a 2015 1794 and find it to be a real Starship(my name's Jefferson).

There's a lot of fakey-jakey GTOs, so I guess fake TRDs aren't surprising.

TRD Offroad is wheels, AT tires, bilstien shocks, skid plates. LOTS of trd offroads....these are real TRD offroad.
Do you mean TRD pro ? I don't see many "Fake TRD Pro"
I see a lot of TRD pro with aftermarket suspension aka why spend $$$ in a pro then replace what makes a pro a oro

Thanks, Seeing several decal stickers on trucks for off road, sport, etc. Mine says TRD off road with Toyota Racing Division below it. Decals were showing their age so I replaced them with the exact same decal...I have seen dealers have a TRD sticker on one side but forgot the other :)) That is why I was asking about the different decals and how to figure if the truck is what the decal says it is. The VERY good info here on the VIN, and the pics shown here on how it reads on the VIN, I think is probably the most reliable. If that does not say TRD, thinking... likely Not TRD. Would a dealer spend $15 bucks to put on a TRD sticker to add big bucks to the perceived value and desirably for a customer. Dumb question I know :))) Tnx for ur info. Helpful...Thomas

    Function before sparkle.
    Stickers only add magic horsepower.

An easy starting point on a stock truck is to look at the shocks:

Blue shocks = TRD Off road
    Red shocks = TRD Sport
    Black shocks = Regular package
Silver TRD Fox = TRD Pro 2019 and newer
Silver TRD = TRD Pro 2017 and older

Just adding a little bit of clarification to your list.

I know people add aftermarket or even real TRD stickers just like they do 4x4 stickers on 2WDs. Someone posted a thread on a dealer that was selling a truck as a Pro thar was not a Pro. Dealer was in my town and I emailed them. They blamed it on their marketing company.

My TRD Sport, that I bought brand new some 2900 miles ago, has blue shocks. Goes to show not everything one reads on the internet is correct.

Kinda misleading when you say blue shocks because they both have blue, hence my clarification.

Do you have top or bottom:

I prefer the no sticker mode. First “mod” I made to my new truck was to carefully peel the TRD Off Road stickers from the bedside.
    Nice and clean…….

All the 2019+ TRD trucks will have the OEM LED headlights. That was part of every TRD package. Wheels are another item that can point them out, but it's also easy to sub in or explain away with an aftermarket wheel.
