Out of curiosity, how many port options were installed on your truck and what were they?

The bed liner, tailgate lock and the floormat/sill protector package. I've searched all over the web to try and figure out where the "port" is. My dealer claims these port options were installed at San Antonio prior to leaving the factory. Check out the dates on this photo.

 

So, that’s correct. The trucks are built in the factory. From there, they’re moved to another facility on site in San Antonio collocated with the factory to have the “port” options installed, then put on a train or truck and shipped out.

I only asked about the port accessories as I know that they potentially could slow the delivery process. You and I have just about the same number of port accessories being installed (I don’t get the tailgate lock, but do get a console safe) so I anticipate our build to delivery time to be approximately the same.

 

So in my case my build date is actually the date it is completed at the port? I know there is a large facility in Houston that does processing. Gulf States Vehicle Processing Center, it's called. Little on Google about it. It doesn't jive that my truck took over two weeks to get there by rail and one day to complete the trip on truck. There's a large distribution center at Cincinnati and the local would fit but the Port may or may not be owned by Toyota.

 

Last Friday I chatted with my rep getting final vin, and invoice details on the truck to prepare for financing, as I looked over the invoice I noticed it was under my original number, further inspection I found out they cut doing the bed liner at port, so little bummed on that as I preferred it showing up all done already and with the tundra stamp, now it’s going to show up and be a dealer add on and take 2-3 days longer, but it is what it is, but yah just a heads up as something to check on.

My other port options all went threw, predator steps, console safe, paint protection, tailgate tundra insert, trd filter, and tailgate lock.

expected delivery range showed sept. 20th -27th but a delivery date of 23rd, so we will see possibly tomorrow, but at this point with the liner needed, probably Monday/Tuesday pick up finally.

 

I'll definitely make sure about my bedliner. I read somewhere there was a shortage of resin for the bedliner so maybe there's some truth to that.

 

It sucks, but ultimately just glad the order never got cut with all the chip shortages etc. just eyeing that finish line hah, it’s been rough driving my Tacoma stock for over a month, after having it built for the last 5 years.

 

From what I understand, your BUILD date is the day it’s built.Once complete, your VIN changes over and THEN it goes to the “port” to have all the port options installed. My understanding was that the Port was colocated with or near the factory so there wasn’t much actual traveling between the two. Lack of materials for port installed options has caused delays (and cancellations in some cases) so that may account for some of the time difference (?). Now…I’m not there so I’m not 100% sure that any of this is ACTUALLY how the process goes, this is simply what I’ve learned through my second hand research and conversations with my dealer.

 

I was thinking something very similar with the vehicles getting loaded on railcars and unloaded near the port. Then once completed loaded on a semi and delivered to the dealer. I have no proof of that just experience in transportation logistics. Gulf States only acts as a port for nearby states so mine didn't go there. As I said Google is of little help on this only showing ads for a company that does this and a few industry related articles for the processing center in Houston. That's probably intentional. I will reach out to my dealer to check if I got the spray in liner installed at port.

 

Gulf states Toyota distributors has four or five states they supply and south east Toyota has ga,al,fl,nc,sc,, there the only privately held
Distributors and they have there on accessories facilities, rest of states are broken up regions ran by TMC who accessorize there own.
Gulf states and SET have there on line accessories they add on , plus they use some of TMC ACCESSORIES , and have a lot copied

 

I ordered the level 9 sound system on my 2022 unit. I take possession next week but they were nice enough to send a pic.

I’m not a red guy, but it’s looks go on yours. I’m loving new Tundra. Waited forever to buy and once the new iteration was slated to not offer the V8 anymore. I boogied over to Toyota to order. I have an 07 Sequoia that has been a peach for 170,xxx miles.

 

Be sure to do an in depth analysis after a year for us.

 

I'm not picky about color as long as it's not white, black, gray, grey, silver, gold, yellow, green, purple, pink, mauve, orange or any combination of the above. Nope, not picky at all.

This is actually quite a bit more appealing to me than the ‘22 Tundra, lol.

 

Today was expected delivery day per the computer info tracking…… nope instead updated saying delayed until the 29th as the new expected. So that puts it at almost 3 1/2 weeks to get from Texas to Arizona, smh.

 

Picked mine up today. Very happy with it. Removed the rear seats. 40% er weights 40 pounds. 60%er weighs 74.5#. Working on steps for the dog now. Payload is 1270 minus the port installed floor mats, bed liner and tailgate lock. SR5 Crewmax 4x4 with the floor shift, 38gal tank package and the BSM and RCTA packages. So, total payload is 1217#. Going to be close.

 

Close to what? What’s a 40%er and a 60%er?

 

close to GVWR once the trailer is hitched and the truck loaded for camping. One rear seat is smaller (about 40% of the total rear seat) and the other is larger. Refers to 40/60 seats.

 

Guess it depends on what part of the country you are in. My ‘21 has a manufacture date of 3/21 inside the driver door. It was on my dealer lot 3/8 and picked it up 3/12.

 

Just heard from my dealer, looks like it will show up 9/29!

Florida. Now I have to decide if I sell on Vroom or trade in!
