What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Good to know. I honestly never touch my dimmer, so I probably would have never noticed this.

 

Gave her a much needed bath - Still has an amazing shine after almost 3 years!

 

They have two internal LEDs - one is powered by the illumination circuit (the words on the switch) and one is lit by the activation of the switch (the icon on the switch). They both use a common ground, but the switched LED is taking the power source from the power that the switch is turning on (on the load side of the switch).
The truck illumination circuit sends + and - through the instrument panel dimmer, which is how you get the variable output. I wasn’t interested in sending raw power (even if only 3A) from the switch to the negative side of the illumination circuit and possibly frying my instrument cluster…

The only way to remove the secondary LED would be to de-solder it from the switch and lose that part of the illumination.

So far, the ONLY dimmable after market switch I’ve seen/encountered is the one that ABC sell with their Anytime Backup Camera kits, but it isn’t quite the right shade of blue.

 

I notice it only when auto-on headlight sensor will change brightness on the radio based on the ambient light (like going through a tunnel)

Also this was the method I used to unhook it, used the short end of an allen to depress the tab.

I hear ya on that. I've had a backflip on since I bought the truck. It was a pretty easy swap and I'm sure I'll go back and forth.

I removed my Bushwacker Extended Flares that ive had on for about 5 months and added back the OEM mud guards. Thankfully, there was no damage to the paint underneath from the rubbing (Edit: there are some light faint rubbing marks that I can probably buff out).. I have always loved the look of mud guards on a truck and with me committed to keeping the OEM Pro BBS wheels, 1.25" spacers with 295-70-18 tires are as aggressive looking as it gets for me. Had I gone with a different wheel setup with lower offset, I would have kept the flares on. I love how there is a slight poke now with the wheels.

Id have to find the receipt to get the model but the brand is Century. Leer has an identical model too as they are made at the same plant.

This is the last piece of interior chrome I have to get rid of and I’ve procrastinated because of this very reason.

 

Kinda glad I went with the ME-SO 4WD trim. I don't remember those little springs and detents being part of the dissection process to install it.

Been wanting to do this for a while. Lumber prices finally semi normal again so I banged out this DIY decked system

 

Hit 10k miles yesterday, got her with 8 miles June 9th. Got the 10k service yesterday too and had them change the rear diff fluid as most of the miles so far have been towing

What gray did you use for you emblems?

 

I used a Plasti-Dip labeled Dark Gray. $6 at Lowe’s.

I dipped the actual badges and my fender flares on my Tacoma (black) and after 5 years, then traded it for the Tundra, they were still in perfect condition and that includes dozens of washes using my pressure washer. Also dipped the body side moldings on my old Subaru and traded that in for my RAV4 that dip still looked like the day it was applied after 8 years.

Below is a picture of the Subaru the day before I traded it in and the day I traded in the Tacoma and you can see how well the dip has held up.

So just saying the dip does hold up and I’ve never had to do any touch ups. Although touch ups are super simple to do if ever needed.
