What makes you angry?

Having a manager out sick for a planned meeting, being told to cover for the meeting since it's basically to let a contractor present their ideas only to have the contractor say they don't have enough info and ask for a bunch of stuff I'm in no way prepared to give or know anything about.

 

Microsoft. Microsoft infuriates me.

*ding* updates available *ding* you need updates *ding* is bad enough. Then add in the fact that any time the work computer restarts it reverts to Edge as the default browser. What is the f**king point of me setting a default browser if Microsoft is just gonna push their herpes riddled dick in my face no matter how many times I tell them I only want Chrome's fish taco?

Top it off with the fact that one of the updates required a restart. No biggie. Scheduled it for 9AM when I'd be home sleeping. Come in this morning and it's done, so I have to reset my default browser and log into all my programs again.... but wait; what's this? The update effed up my routes for various IPs that it somehow magically prevents me from accessing some IPs through our VPN, but others on the same VPN work as normal? Check the route tables and they are all correct, but ping the IP I need for my number 1 single most vital program for my job and even with the proper route it drops 100% of the packets...




So, this was all run through with IT on the phone, multiple reboots, him remoting into my PC to doublecheck stuff, etc.

So I ask "can I revert to the previous version before it broke everything?"

IT: "Oh, yeah, that might work!"

With IT guidance I go into the restart settings that let you revert the updates. Well, it's the company account that has that admin access, not me, so I ask IT how to do it.

IT: "Well that's the corporate account that automatically changes it's password everyday. I can't change any of that."

Me: "So I can't revert to a previous version?"

IT: "Not with my level of access. You're just going to have to limp through this evening."

Me "Okay, I guess I'll just remote into our generic system on the wall monitors and limp it. What's the solution likely to be?"

IT: "We'll probably have to rebuild your PC tomorrow."

Me: "Fun. Do I need to be present with my password for this rebuild process?" (Company policy prohibits the sharing of user passwords, even with IT, and it is a first time fireable offense.)

IT: "Only to install the apps. Yeah, but we can work around that."

I didn't respond to that last teams chat line because I know their "work around" is either not installing any of the apps/programs I need to do my job and leaving me to rebuild it tomorrow night, or using their admin access to force change my password so they can access my user account. Then, they won't install all the apps or programs correctly anyway, and I will have to change my passwords AND rebuild it all tomorrow night.

Don't blame the hardware for software problems.

 

That's nuts. Our policy is IT can change your password for access and then force you to change it once done. We have so many work from home people now(including me) it's crazy.

 

That's basically what ours is, but if they can access it anyway/change it on a whim, why can't I just provide my password to IT? I'm not giving them access that they don't already have. It's a bit of a dim policy IMO.

 

Actually you are. I don't have access to payroll info, engineering drawings or acquisition info, nor do I want it.
But yeah most times they just give it up and we tell them to change it. hell I got everyone's passwords floating in my head I just can't link them up to the user...

I don't think I properly communicated how my company's IT works. They don't bypass my PW to get into my machine. They do it to get into my profile. They have access to everything I do at that point. With or without my PW they can do that.

Oh god. When I see posts like this on a forum, I scroll past them as fast as possible.

 

Confirmed my info with the receptionist when I made my appt.

Used the online portal as requested to again verify all my info.

What do I get handed when I arrive for my appt? Three fucking forms, all asking for my name, address, email and DOB.

Pick one path people. One.

I almost filled in the forms with my off-hand just to be a dick.

I rebooted the computer, the printer, my phone and even threatened to reboot the IT guy.

 

After a 3 month wait for my cat shields, they're stuck at a FedEx warehouse rather than having been delivered on Monday as scheduled.

 

I hate it when my stereo doesn't play loud enough for my mood. It needs to hit hard, I need to feel my bones shake at 38 Hz. The next town over needs to hear Gin and Juice.

You're making me miss when I had a 15 behind the seat of my bug. I would play the shit out of Snoops first cd and rattle windows halfway down the block. Surprisingly my bug itself had no rattles and the dome shape worked like an amplifier. Makes me angry that I sold that 15 and that amp, but I still have the bug.

 

Cavernous interiors are fun. The week I had this was great.
