I was going to ask what a watch cap was.


So it's a beanie....

 

Yeah I have know idea what I was doing, the first two I didn’t find it? But I found something else resembling it near the bottom where the……flippers are? Haha
So I thought I got them all pretty good, we definitely found two with it still in there, oh well. First time for everything!

 

i like a nice lightweight skull cap toque,
but not the stupid saggy-back ones or the ones that stand up like a nipple on top of your head

 

I thought I was tripping when I first came across it; I thought it was a sushi roller or some bullshit, but then I quit skimming and actually read what it was!

 

It could be debated but I say toques are often longer and peaked, watch caps fit closer to the head. Basically like wearing a tube sock on your head. They also often have that childish and stupid pompom shit on top.

 

If they’ve been purged correctly, you don’t need to devein and will have a hard time finding it. The purge basically involves keeping them alive for a couple days in clean water so the shit out anything left in them.

 

A beanie i usually thinner material and often synthetic material, at least the ones I've seen. A watch cap is traditionally thicker and made of wool.

The saggy back and nipple shaped ones are toques.

 

Well, it’s a beanie that you roll up one or two folds so that it sits just at or above the ears. It sits tight on top of the head, no fucked up shapes. A lot of beanies with a logo can’t be worn that way, which is too bad.
I prefer above the ears to allow for better sense of hearing. Origin is with night watchmen on deck of ships as I understand it.

 

I guess I'm just not sophisticated enough. Everything you're describing has always fallen under the general tag of beanie for me. The only ones I will wear have to be thin enough to not cook me in the summer, but long enough to come down over the tops of my ears and no rolls.

I mean, headwear isn't an exact science. So I'll accept beanie as terminology.

I’ve never had shrimp that was purged, but we always did it with mud bugs. We actually feed them balls of corn meal mixed with a little egg to hold it together and kept them in a laundry tub with a trickle of fresh water for about two days before the boil

 

They’re about as goofy as Newfies.
