Emails have been known to contain wrong information. What holds more water, a publicity email from Toyota relations or information from an interview with an engineer. The engineer told TFL it's not required to meet those numbers and it was on 87.

Once again, add this to the category of "know one really knows."

The speculation is that the disclaimer in the email is in error, since they don't have that disclaimer on their own website. Plus, I believe it was the TFL video where he asked Mike Sweers and he said premium wasn't necessary, but I may be wrong about that.

I did not gather that from from what was said, but if you say so.

Squealing the tires of a 5500 lb truck at ~20 mph with trac on does sound like a winner to me :)

    Rivian R1T is nice.

Just remember, it's a tweener size and only 4-1/2 foot bed.

If that works for you, it is a compelling choice.

I think it's a misprint or talking about Research Octane 91, which is roughly the same thing as 87 Grade you get at the pump. I don't think this confirms anything. The engineer said regular octane was used and there is nowhere on the website that mentions premium required. Emails have been wrong in the past. It also makes no sense that this would only affect the Hybrid models because the engine is the exact same across the board

I do like a lot of what Rivian has done. But, their R1T also starts at $67.5k and most likely to be in the $76k+ range for a 300+ mile battery pack, so not a cheap truck by any means.

If it’s a tundra you get less than stellar mpgs in, I would argue that the fuel you burn is not being wasted. You are paying to keep your precious time to yourself. Your truck is less likely to be out of service, and you are less likely to need to pay for repairs driving a Tundra. Simple fact. It has also been the cheapest half-ton truck to own over 5 years.

High fuel cost. Drastically lower cost of repairs.

No Sunroof on this DC. Also doesn't appear hybrid based on the gauges.

this would be my first truck. I’m a CPA. Current ride is an RDX. Wanted a truck since I was 8 years old. Timing was never right. My commute is 6.5 miles round trip. Its hard not to wonder if that would be a better fit for me.

We don’t know what the mpg is going to be. It hasn’t been announced but Swears says it will have the same range as the previous outgoing truck with the 38 gallon tank.

The R1T Launch Edition (sold out) is $73k, minus tax credit about $65.5k. seems expensive at first, but factor in that it's 800hp and has over 300 miles range, it sits at a fair price for an EV.

How big is this tank going to be? I think I heard 32 gallon somewhere, if that is the case that is not much of an improvement.

Doing the math, that puts the 4wd Crewmax in the 15 city - 20 highway range.
    38 * 17 = 646
    646 / 32 = 20.1875
    38 * 13 = 494
    494 / 32 = 15.4375

That is a rough estimate too, as we don't know how precise it is on range, but it should give everyone a good idea.

Man that would suck. To me it would defeat the purpose of having the hybrid. The battery is in the cab, so why wouldn't they be able to put in the same size gas tank?

doesnt look like the pro has heated and vented seats in the rear like the platinum.

I just cant get into those camo seats, maybe when I was 20 or something.

they should have made a normal black option as well I think. I do like the total color match of the Pro though.

    just my .02

Yeah, I've heard the PRO is built on the limited platform, so it not have rear seat heat and cooling would coincide.

I like that trailer back up feature. Do I need it? No. Would I use it? Yes. Would it be fantastic for The Woman who is inexperienced with trailers if she needs to deal with a trailer while I'm not around? Hell yes.

Something I haven't seen mentioned is almost certain no more piggyback on front Fox shocks for TRD Pro. On the 20-21 models clearly the piggyback reservoir is easily noticed. On the video posted few pages back where the person goes under the front suspension there is absolutely no reservoir. So is Toyota omitting that for any particular reason? Doesn't look like the shock body has increased in diameter so you would be losing some fluid capacity and possible travel. Wonder if that is only a pre-production thing?

I will be interested to see what tuning options are available for the 3.5. Looking at Ford's Ecoboost, seems like there are some significant power increases to be had. Wonder if Toyota will lock tuners out like Ford did with the 2021's.
