Go look at numbers on fuelly for the 6.2l. 33 vehicles, 1435 fuel ups, 438,579 miles, combined mpg is 16. 2 guy out off 33 are averaging 20mpg. The Tundra with about 3 times as much data captured, averages 14.

I'm sorry but the whole "I know a guy" or "I was always told" is not a very good way to complie information. We all do it though, even me.

Ditto. All fuel meets the same specifications, regardless of where it's manufactured or the components used.

Since we're talking mpgs here, over on the tow hook thread, several mpg enhancing things were brought up.
    Lack of tow hooks.
    Deployable air dam.
Front bumper hangs down so much that you can't even see the fancy red-lettered TRD skid plate on the Pro, meaning you'll drag the front bumper before you get to the skid plate (according to reviewers who noticed this)

My current truck has big tow hooks, no air dam, and a heavy skid plate that comes around the bottom of the front bumper, fully protecting it. In my case, I do use these features fully, so I'm that 1%.

If one were to "deconstruct" the front of a Tundra to gain proper tow hooks and better skid plate protection, I wonder how badly the mpgs would suffer? Back down to V8 levels?

Obviously it’s not as reliable as cold hard data dude…I was referring to it that way because I only know maybe 2-3 people that drive 6.2L Sierras, as the 5.3L is the predominant engine in my part of the world.

Hell, if I told you I got 18.5-19.5 highway MPG before I added the bigger tires to my Tundra, you probably wouldn’t believe it because it wasn’t documented on Fuelly …doesn’t make it untrue though.

Uphill the V-8 basically matched the TT V6 in performance, but the v8 got slightly better fuel mileage.

Down hill the V8 did better.

Overall their consensus was the V8 won the test.

The TT V6 seemed to not be screaming as much climbing, I'd guess that if they held both to the floor the V6 would've been at the top of the mountain first for sure.

That is a big difference. Maybe this is one of the areas that the new Tundra is in-fact ahead of the competition. Sure that number looks nice on paper, but 1100 rpm is a huge difference especially when towing, and can't really be appreciated until you're behind the wheel.

I wonder what the mpgs would be on a Gen 2.5 Tundra if you welded a Gen 3 front end onto it?

this is a totally new system so there is no reliable or meaningful data.

anything else is a bunch of subjective bullshit.

To be honest, I'm one of those snobs, mostly because one of my friends worked at one of our local refineries and, based on what he told me, I don't trust their product quality program (or lack thereof).

I am assuming, since I haven't seen it mentioned either. But considering it is stock in everything except the SR5 since 2020, I'm sure it'll be included.

Just going to brag that I correctly guessed the right PRO color over the engineer that graduated from MIT/Stanford/Harvard. Should I start a clickbait youtube channel now that I'm smarter than him?

It's a different system, but there are several Prius that have gone over 200,000 miles and 10+ years on the original batteries. Also most of the time, the batteries are modular so you only have to replace the bad cells not the entire battery pack. Obviously we don't have info on the Tundra, but in other Toyota hybrids, the battery packs are not something to be concerned with.

So, this is something that I struggle with.
I haven't had an official calibration done, no. When I pull up my gps on my phone, the speed shown matches what is on the odometer. I have also used the radar cruise to maintain distance and speed with another vehicle while on a trip and my speedometer matched theirs (verified over the phone while driving).

Before I changed my tires, my morning commute was 20.2 miles from driveway to parking space.
    Now, it is 19.4 miles.

So, speedometer "appears" to be accurate, but the distance traveled is less...
Unless the speedometer was off from the factory, I don't get it.
I know the difference is roughly 1 mph for every 30 mph. So, when I am going 80 down the interstate, I should see at least a 2mph difference, but nada.

I was going to mention it in the previous post, but I didn't want to derail too far down the rabbit hole lol.

Dudes! I've been saying that since the first leaks came out. It's missing the bottom of the grill surround. Yes, I've been correct all this time. You should all be used to me being correct at all times.

I really liked my 2020 before it was totalled. I really like the 2022, it has grown on me. Give me a color matched 4x4 on 18's with a TRD Pro grill swap and I'll be good to go.

I dm'd Toyota USA on whether the TRD Pro was a standalone March 22 delivery or if all hybrids were a March 22 delivery. He responded with a link to a press release that had absolutely no information.
