Waiting on somebody to say because it's not a tow truck and wasn't designed to do that LOL

There’s an air damn that drops down at highway speeds to help with fuel economy.

highly recommend watching the TFL video with Mike Sweers.

Something about iron man comic book character and aerodynamics.

I'm just going to throw a aerodynamic ranch hand summit brush guard and rear bumper with side steps on her and call it good if the electric air dam and safety sense gizmos dont interfere. May have to unplug all that right off

I dont see where they could squeeze in tow hooks in this front end so I guess it will be ones like the past gen that hang under the chin? I would imagine that would defete the purpose of the electronic air dam under the chin so I dont know

So in chasing an extra .003 mpg, they removed them. But for extra money you can option them!

It doesn't look like the the electric air dam goes up very far. How expensive to fix after I drag it on a rut? Make $50 frame thru grill tow hooks standard and make electronic air dam as a $1,500 genuine Toyota parts accessory. How many electriconic deploying air dams would sell?

If dragging the air dam, you will have more expensive issues to worry about in conjunction with the air dam.

    It doesn’t hang down….

5% by adding the air dam doesn't mean 5% by removing tow hooks.

    Sure doesn’t.

Probably should just stick with the 2.5 Gen.

    Too many, but not enough....
I imagine most people concerned about having recovery points would likely swap the factory bumper for a high clearance bumper anyway. Having said that, every new truck i have seen has tow hooks from factory.

They’ll have some kinda hook so they can secure them atop the trailer hauler to get them to dealerships. Just might not be adequate to pull a vehicle bogged down in mud.

Several people who reviewed the TRD Pro noted that, for aerodynamics, the front plastic lower piece of the bumper hangs down so far, you can't even see the fancy TRD skid plate with its big red lettering anymore.

They felt like you'd drag the bottom of the front bumper before the skid plate touched anything.

And on the models with the air dam, when it's up, it seems far enough up to not be damaged, I heard the air dam only deploys at higher speeds.

I think a new aftermarket front bumper or modification will be necessary for any Tundra being used off-road, even the TRD Pro

Come to think of it, I have never actually used the front tow hooks on my Tundra for my own recovery. Always to pull someone else out.

But then again, the Tundra is the "whale of the trail" and I don't push it very far compared to the previous Taco.
