I'm with you on that, the faux camo seems very trendy and I don't think it will age well with the truck. I don't know what they were thinking when they came up with that, color matched looks much better on the exterior trim or at the very least just plain black.

At first, I was 100% right there. I thought it detracted from the lines of the dash.
Then seeing another picture from the backseat made it look a lot better.
I would probably prefer the flat texture, myself

Agreed, there's definitely some wth items with the badging and finishes. I could do without the "tundra" on the front bumper area as well, it's just an odd placement. Just give me badges so I can take them off and have a clean look. Like someone else said with the pro tailgate the less is more approach would have been much better.

If I can retro an S2000 digital cluster into my Integra, surely we can get the digital screen into the 2.5 gens right?

I think the red TRD decal on the bottom of the steering wheel is only on the Sport and Pro.

I had a rental with it for about 2 weeks when my truck was in the body shop. After a couple days I got used to it. I had to get used to going a little slower going from brake to gas. I wonder if you would even notice it on the hybrid at all.

Start/ Stop gets annoying as the car ages and more miles are put on. It becomes a rougher start and more noticeable.

As with most things… it’s on a spectrum. I have driven many different cars with the feature over the years and the overarching theme seems to be that the technology has improved over time and with a hybrid powertrain, nearly all the complaints are gone. Besides the eery silence!

This is the big thing, the electric motor gets you going enough to let the gas engine start up if you punch it quicker than it can start. And it is nice to know that you get a beefed up starter because they expect the much higher number of startups

Know what I like the most about the Toyota Tundra history?

    Long gaps between generation changes.

Boooom nice technical write up with supporting documents. Maybe now the “complaint department” will ease up.

Two years ago I was shopping for a new TRD 4Runner. Sticker on it was $41k, talked the dealer to $39k but I wanted it for $38k so I walked away waiting for a possible holiday / end of year blow them out the door deal. Well that blow out never came…. Fast forward to 2021 and the same year and model 4Runner with 20,000 miles is going for $44k. So it’s a complete shit-show and people are paying more than 5k over for a used vehicle because they don’t have a choice unless they settle for something else. People will more than likely have to pay $5k over MSRP for a new Tundra Pro…. I would rather buy a new car and pay $5k over than a used one.. This 2021 inflation is going to bite a lot of people that can’t walk away that need a car…..

I actually really like the long gap, if you buy a Ford or gm it'll only be the "new" style for a year or two.

Maybe for the upper trims, but people are still complain about the lower trims payload rating not being equal

And for a half ton, that is plenty. If you need that much payload and need it all the time, then I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a 3/4 ton is what you need. If you plan on hauling 2k of mulch or rock or something once a year, then you'll be fine.

I don't care if I'm overloaded by a few hundred pounds, I can't tell when driving, and I'm sure not gonna bitch about toyota not improving payload.

Exactly!! Take my snapper lawn mower for example, it's old, but won't die. And they're styled damn near the same as they've always been. I could have gotten a new cub cadet, John deer, Toro, etc. But I wanted something that I could just crank up and mow the yard, no matter what.

The tundra is the snapper of the light duty truck industry :turtleride:

Do you think we will be able to order the Platinum in no-hybrid configuration? I'm really not interested in lower payload or lack of storage under back seat.

Yes, the hybrid powertrain is optional on the Platinum/1794 and standard on the TRD Pro. Only the base powertrain is available on SR/SR5. Mixed messaging on whether it'll be available as an option on Limiteds or the Crew Cab.
