Today I dipped my Blackout Overlays with several coats of mat black Plastic-Dip. I don’t like that shiny plasticky look and by dipping them now they all look flat black.

Also opened the Black Zinc Alloy Tailgate letters. First I have to say the feel and quality to them is really really nice. Plus a nice heavy feel to them, and yes I dipped them as well. Then I thought about it and since I still have 2 different cans of Grays, one is a darker gray, so I sprayed them with several coats of it.

I might do the other plastic ones (7) with the gray after I look and see how the tailgate gray ones look. Anyway here’s a picture of them dipped. I took one picture of the tailgate letters next to the mat black dipped plastic TUNDRA overlay for contrast. Next to each other you can really see the color difference.

Let me know what you think……I won’t really know until I can actually see them next to the Cement color.

Wait so you sprayed black over your already blacked out emblem overlays? My overlays came matte black.

Yes and for 2 reasons. 1. It no longer has that plasticky look and 2. It adds another layer of thickness which I hope results into endurance/toughness.

Plus I have a couple cans leftover so I might as well use them and I wanted those to match the black zinc alloy tailgate letters.

Once the truck is here I’ll decide whether to go gray or black for all.

So these are my 3 choices of color for the exterior badges. Matte Black, Gunmetal Gray (TUNDRA Tailgate Letters) and Dark Gray (Engine badge)

Once I have the truck in the driveway I’ll decide which ones to use. Hard to say now without the truck to really see which looks best against the Cement……could be in the driveway this week.

Placed my order for the TRD Dual Exhaust today. Should be ready for pick up tomorrow but I’ll probably wait until the truck arrives. They also received my Brushed Stainless Steel Steps so I’ll have some goodies in the bed when I drive home!

Can’t wait to start the mods and making it my own.

The Remote Tailgate Lock and the Door Sill Protectors!

I’ll do all the simple stuff, badges and sills, right away. Then take my time on the bigger install jobs like Dual Exhaust and the Tailgate Lock.

Also had a chance to stop by the paint shop and look the shop over. I was very pleased and will bring them the Fender Flares as soon as I have the truck available. He needs the truck to get a paint match as close as possible.

UPS delivered my Rhino Ramps. It sure why I didn’t order these years ago. Sure coulda used them many times in the past.

It should make the exhaust install a little less claustrophobic and hopefully no skull banging experiences.

The Steps are in, the Dual Exhaust is in…now all I need is the truck.

It will be in the driveway Monday or Tuesday at the latest!

Congrats on the new truck. I'm interested in these fender flares also. Can you let me know what you think once you get them and once they are installed?

Ya I’ll post a picture for sure. One with them right out of the box (matte black) just so I can step back and look it over. Although I’m pretty sure I’ll go with color matched.

Local paint shop gave me a price of $400 painted so I’m happy with that and I’ll see what kinda comments/opinions I get with them black.

I’m not knew to these flares, had them on my 2007 Tundra. Same OE Style flares and I loved the look. Probably why I’m getting them again. Obviously this is my opinion and to each their own. I saw a Pro Lunar Rock with them (OE Style) and I was like WOW…Best looking Lunar Rock ever.

My first post has a picture of my 07 Tundra with the OE flares. And here’s a pic of the LR Pro

Anyone familiar with these tires. No reviews on them but they look nice and have a 60K tread wear.

If you have them curious about how noisy they are or aren’t. Still leaning towards the BFG KOs but looking at what’s out there. Definitely Do Not want Noisy/Loud tires.

That would be great. I'm Interested in seeing them black as well.

And yeah, that lunar rock is awesome! Thanks for sharing that pic. I've been looking for an image of a lunar rock with those fender flares with no success. Thank you! Pretty sure I'm going to get those!

I got them from real truck for $320 + tax and free shipping which arrived 2 days later. Crazy fast service. They were on sale at the time so not sure if that’s still going on. That was the lowest price I could find.

Just got my email on the latest 22 Tundra promo video. It’s only 15 seconds and doesn’t really say/show much.

The email has the clock counting down to I guess will be the official release. Sept 19th

I jumped on the bandwagon for the Last of the V8s

Opened the box to check out the remote locking tailgate hardware. Everything’s accounted for, all looks in good condition, nothing damaged. Plan on this mod probably next week.

I’ll do this and the dual exhaust but first I want wash/clay, seal, and get at least 2 coats of wax on it. Winter will be here fast enough and temps are already starting to drop. Then I’ll do all the quick simple stuff like blackout overlays, doorsill protectors and tailgate letters.

Still trying to decide on which tires to get. Quiet All Terrain tires are at the top of the list. Really like the KO2s but out of stock in my area. Maybe that will change by next week. Who knows.

They very well could be Bushwacker flares. Look like the 30917-02s but you’d have to ask them to be sure

2pm appointment today to sign all the paperwork and go over all the features. Not sure how long all that will take but I have a few boxes to pick up at the parts dept and then home sweet home!

Once in the driveway I’ll look to see which color overlays look best in my opinion and then spray/dip them all so tomorrow I can get them on the truck.

I’ll give it the baggie test first, probably a lot of rail rust so I’m pretty sure it will need a bath. Then a sealer, topped off with a couple coats of wax.

I’ll also try tomorrow to get a pic of the fender flares straight out of the box to see how the truck looks with them Black. I’ll see what the folks here have to say as far as Yay or Nay. Although I’m pretty sure I will end choosing to color match them.

The color matched Hood Bulge is in but the Grille Surround (Older Pro Style) won’t be in until tomorrow or maybe even as late as Thursday. So the grille swap, inserting my stock Limited Grille into the color matched surround, won’t be until next week. I’ll take a picture of it (older Pro Grill) in the truck just for fun to see how it would look.

Between now and then hopefully I’ll manage to get the dual exhaust done as well as the remote tailgate lock mod. Going to be very busy for a week or more.

Emailed BFGoodrich and asked on the status of the KO2s, out of stock in my area, but haven’t heard back yet. So I’m thinking of maybe going with the Toyo Open Country A/T IIIs (356320). Decent reviews, good price, look great and not too loud…quieter than most according to most of the reviews.

Probably gonna go with the Gunmetal (like the tailgate TUNDRA letters in the picture

    Home Sweet Home!

This is the only stock picture I’ll post since Everyone already knows what the Cement Double Cab Limited Edition looks like, tons of pictures already posted throughout the forum, so this is the Official “Before” picture.

Still have another part to pick up due in possibly tomorrow or Thursday. Plenty of stuff to get done and I’ve decided to go with the “dark gray” dip for the overlays and TUNDRA Tailgate letters. Thought for sure the gunmetal would be the one but after holding the overlays against the side it looked better in my opinion with dark gray.

    Odometer still under 20 hahaha

Day 2……but really like day one since I didn’t get back from the dealership yesterday until 5:30ish pm so it was too late to start any mods.

Anyway, today I started with the simplest mod of all, remove the TRD Carpet Mats and replace them with the All Weather Mats. That took like 2 minutes.

Then moved on to the Doorsill Protectors, another quick mod, like 10 minutes per side.

After that was done it was time for the Brushed Stainless Steel Steps install. That took just over an hour because I was also dipping my 6 overlays with the Dark Gray. I tried out 3 colors, Black, Gunmetal and the Dark Gray. Held each one up against the truck and we decided the Dark Gray looked Best.

Wont be installing those until tomorrow or maybe even wait til Friday. I want the dip to have sufficient time to cure/harden. Then that will be another quick install……probably like 15 minutes for all 6 plus the Tailgate Zinc Alloy Letters.

Also made my appointment for the Window Tint, this Friday! After I leave that shop I’ll stop by the tire shop and see about getting some new beefier looking All Terrain tires. Still not sure which tire to go with and I did hear back from BFG on the nonavailability of KO2s in my area. They told me they should be available by the end of October. Not going to wait that long so a decision needs to be made soon on which tire.

Weather permitting and no errands to run hopefully I’ll get the TRD Dual Exhaust going. Plan on painting the pipes Black before I do the install. So we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Today the truck drove ZERO MILES. It moved a few feet in the driveway and that was it. Although I have to say that yesterday while driving back from the dealership it felt like I was sitting on my sofa driving home……very very comfy!

A picture of the Fender Flare straight out of the box. Just held temporarily (2 screws and duct tape on the top) so it does look a little wonky and not snug and perfectly fit.

Stood back to have a good look and……it just doesn’t look as good as I think it will Color Matched. It looks to me like the truck, with the flare black, that the wheel wells are HUGE.

Like some feedback on your opinions with the flares black. Could even try dipping them Dark Gray but I’ll have to think about that so maybe I’ll just cut out a piece of cardboard the same size as the flare and spray it gray to see what it looks like.

Anyway here’s a few pictures with the Black Flare right out of the box. Bushwacker OE Style 30917-02

Nice truck, not big on the flares or the steps but it’s not mine

My local dealership “price matched” the lowest price I was able to find which for my area is pretty much always “toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth”

So add tax and it was right around $450. So when I went to sign all the paperwork and pick up my truck I headed straight over to the Parts department and load up the bed with all my goodies!

Looking the truck over now I’m thinking of dipping the stainless steel that shows a Dark Gray like the emblem overlays. Not sure yet……if I do it’s about a ten minute job to take the step back off and before I installed I had already thought about this and looked at the underside to see if the black plastic step covers could be removed. Looks like a couple screws and I should be able to pop them off, spray several coats of dark gray and then put the black covers/steps back on. Remount the steps and have a completely different look.

Still thinking that over…..decisions decisions decisions……
