I'm wondering if those numbers are going to change at all? At least according to the Toyota website for the current generation of the Tundra 4x4 short bed is around 1500 lbs?

Maybe able to bump that torque to 500 ft lbs with ovtune. He's prepping the software now. He cracked the ecu back in 2018 on a Lexus.

I'm a low mileage driver so gas mileage isn't important. I have the TRD blower on my Tacoma and it's a lot of fun. It would require me to commit to my 2018 on the long term, which is fine.

I think I'd rather have a supercharged 5.7 than a TTV6. It would be an easier decision if I didn't have a leaky cam shaft tower.

Has anyone else been told this? My dealer isn't telling me shit, and I'm #1 on the list.

Personally, I assume this is the case since the TRD Pro isn't slated to be available until March and it has the hybrid powertrain

Can’t remember which video it was, but one of the engineers mentioned the same- base engine shows up on dealer lots in November, hybrids sometime March along with the TRD Pros.

increase of 484 lbs. over your stated payload. Unless you’re comparing hybrid to non hybrid? Not sure on that payload

They seem to be trying to price it with the top trim Tahoe's and Expedtion, both of those are pretty high, but before Covid you could get a pretty good discount and get them under the Sequoia pricing. The Sequoia could be so much more for Toyota if they put a little more effort into positioning it in the market.

I wonder if a production restriction is the reason they have never put too much effort in the Sequoia.

Brand recognition on that model is so bad that I have 3 friends that own Tahoes, and I have asked each on of them why they didn't get a Sequoia and all of them said they actually forgot about that model being an option in that category...

I am not sure, but I hope so.
The door jam sticker on my truck is what I am basing the number off of. The number for the new model I am referencing what was on the TFL video of the door jam sticker.

One thing that I heard from Mike Sweers in that interview was talking about how well it handles the towing and payload at its maximum rating. He referenced how the other brands struggle at those high numbers and the driving is difficult. Then he talked about how easily the new Tundra handles the max numbers much better, but he doesn't acknowledge how they do with the same numbers as what the Tundra is rated to handle.

Oh well, we will wait and see I suppose. I am not in a hurry to make a change on my truck anyway, but just trying to plan for the future.

That is a good question. I wondered that too. I thought the Tundra in the video that Andre posted from TFL was the non-hybrid model, but I will go back and check.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

    Edit:
I went back and looked at it. The video he posted is on the 1794. Typically not too much difference, but it is also for the longer bed. So, the comparable shortbed I haven't seen posted yet.

My dealer told me to expect the first 22's to be in stock in December, and I'll be able to place an order around that time. He said that he wouldn't expect any allocations to arrive before Jan-Feb timeframe.

Bummer, but I'll just wait it out i guess.

While you're at it, you should ask what the dealer mark up will be.

One of my dealers said they are still deciding if they are going to do one, the other dealer I have been talking to said they will have a ADM, but they haven't said how much it will be.

Just got off the phone with Delray Toyota in Palm Beach County, FL. They're saying the hybrid and base engine will both be available in November. I don't know if they're being told something different, or they're just wrong.

I'm thinking they may have the wrong info. Even most of the reveal videos I have seen said that the hybrids will be March (I could be wrong).

I get a kick out of the "learn how to drive crowd". Can you get moving in 2wd? Yes. Can you switch to 4WD and get better performance? Yes. Should Toyota have added Auto4WD when every other major manufacturer has been offering it in their trucks for 10+ years and obviously its very popular/convenient? I would argue yes.

I don’t think I know anyone who doesn’t use there trucks over the rated payload on occasion. So educate me. What are you risking by putting 2000 pounds in the bed?

besides hitting the bump stops. A easily remedied issue. Isn’t the frame and rear axle over built?

If not having auto 4x4 saves me money and makes the truck more reliable I support not having it. Last thing I would want is the truck kicking into 4x4 when I don’t want it to.

Never seen this happen on a Japanese brand vehicle.

Not sure if it has been mentioned before, but looks like a power outlet is added to dash for device mounting and charging.
