I have some cuts to make on my frame. What tools/blades/discs does everyone use? I have a grinder but don't wanna burn through a ton of discs and am looking for what works WELL without spending a ton of money.

    @ColoradoTJ What do you use?

What are you chopping? Body mount or chopping to shorten the frame? I used sawzaw with metal blades when I did the body mount chop and a grinder to get rid of the dimples to mount my sliders.

Frame. The spare tire guides and There are some flaps that I need gone right in front of the rear wheels too. I have some other mods needing metal cutting abilities too but that's the heaviest duty.

Never seen one. Is that something cheap to purchase or can I rent one?

I mean...if you have one already. They are not cheap and I don't think they are rentable. I have a Powermax 65 that makes quick work of anything 1" or thinner. But a grinder with a cutoff wheel is your next best bet.

Harbor freight sells a 7" grinder. That thing is downright scary, but it's gnarly and fairly inexpensive (less than 50 bucks). Just make sure to use two hands and no loose clothing.

Tacoma. But geometry is almost the same except for the frame dovetail.

Mark, just use a 4.5" grinder. New discs are like $3 each.

This might be a good move but it wouldn't be this week. Overwhelmingly busy

I have a grinder and know how to use one. I just don't wanna burn through discs and have never cut into anything on a vehicle. Don't know what kind of steel is used

Chris, I'll text you later in the week if I'm not done already. I still need to get those mats for you anyway

Sawzaw is way faster than a cutoff disk. Then clean it up with a grinder.
Bed it too wide on the Tundra. You have to cut the bed if you wanted to do that.

Sounds good Mark. I go to HD and buy metal cut off wheels by the 24 pack.

The frame on toyotas cut away like butter.

    A lot of shock

You are correct depending on wheel offset. Or 1.25" wheel spacers. Either way...I ain't scared.

Awesome. Make sure they say metal and not mason. I have made that mistake before.

I hate it when that happens. I had a disk explode on me yesterday. Going to the doc later as something is still stuck in my eye. And yes I was wearing glasses. But only because I broke my goggles on Sunday.

That sucks man. I have had cut off wheels do the same shit.

Hopefully the eye is ok. The docs have had to drill my eye twice.
