Decided to upgrade the tires on our RV travel trailer. (Ok, not officially something to do with our Tundra, but it was towing the RV when the tire exploded).

Although I love the safe, the tray that came with it is completely useless and the metal edges at the top can be a little sharp. To help with the sharp edges, I used some door edge guard that fit perfectly. Instead of using the tray, I bought some cheap tupperware from the Dollar Tree. Bought two different sizes just to see how I liked them. I know its not sexy, but I’m the only one who will see them. I also put a small Tupperware container at the bottom as well.

held together by duct tape and baling wire
Today I finally cleaned up the mess of wires in my bed that serves my fuse block, cap dome light, inverter, and air compressor. Also relocated the 100 amp fuse from the engine bay to the bed because it kept rattling around and losing connection. I mounted the fuse block and the big fuse to a wood plank I bolted to my uni-strut rails. Boy, does it feel good to have that mess cleaned up.

I wired my OEM style power fold mirror switch to operate my Boost Auto mirrors. Boost provides a switch with their harness. It's okay. It works well, but it does not fit our switch holes without cutting. I didn't want to cut my dash so I jammed the switch into the hole which worked until I could wire the OEM style. I wrote the step by step here with pics and commentary https://www.tundras.com/threads/power-folding-mirrors-boost-auto-parts.71874/#post-1916248
The OP has a 3rd gen and his plug harness is a little different than my second gen so between the two of us (Toshito and me) we figured it out. Piece of cake. Took me 20 mins start to finish. Knowing how to do it now, I could git 'er dun in 10. Here it is in the pic below.

Also, I added this exhaust tip. Gained like 50 horse power.

If you fold in the mirrors when you’re driving, you pick up another 10 MPG.

Well……I made it. Kinda. More like this was an exhaust tip that was on the truck when I bought it but miles and years had imposed some surface rust on it. I like the size and style so I media blasted it and cerakoted it black. Then I found the TRD emblem on eBay. It is aluminum so I gradually bent it to match the radius of the exhaust tip. Came with adhesive already installed so I placed it where I thought it looked best. Time will tell if the emblem can take the weather and heat. It is made for outdoors use. If you are still interested, I can find and post the source links

    ETA Emblem link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/263367857284

I think this is the exhaust tip: https://www.autozone.com/exhaust/ex...eel-4in-x-10in-bolt-on-exhaust-tip/141703_0_0

Post Script: Seems the emblem can take the heat without losing the adhesive. I’m confident it will continue to last.

It's not a lot, but I finally replaced the lower valance. That was a bigger PITA than I expected. Previous owner had hit at least one or two deer, so the original grill was shredded and the bumper had all kinds of random damage to it. Whoever put it back together last time, left out a few of the pins and screws in various places.

I think I've finally got her about where I'm happy. There's still a hole in the passenger side of the bumper and some scrapes on the bumper, but that makes it easier to not care if someone taps my truck or slams a cart into it.

Fixed my broken antenna. Tried backing out the treads with every trick possible. No dice.
I ordered a cable / mast from Toyota on Amazon. Couldn’t find a 2nd gen video or replacement but there is a third gen that is very similar on how to disassemble the passenger dash.
I’ve put this aside for 2 years. Wasn’t hard to do at all- it doesn’t get routed all the way to head unit like I thought- the is a male / female plug behind the passenger pillar.

I'll second that it is a PITA to replace that piece. The whole damn front end has to come apart. I broke one of the tabs on the piece under the headlight on mine.

Toyota never considered the 2014+ a third gen, just a refresh.

Thanks for posting this up @kparrow

Got the $20 off and it took a couple of weeks to get them, but they arrived today. Seem to be a bit sturdier than the OEM pieces too. Then again, all 4 of mine were completely shot and just hanging on at the ends. We'll see how they hold up.

One trick I learned was one of those little screw drivers with the small magnet on end , has backed out more than one for me. Usually the screw breaks but stays loose.

Changed out my rear rotor and pads. MN corrosion got the best of them. Been noticing the squeaks for a couple weeks.

Installed the Diode Dynamic SS3 Pro yellow fog lights on Saturday. Really liking them so far, they have a very wide beam. They compliment my Alpharex Pros with GTR Ultra 2 bulbs quite well, may need to adjust the headlights up a bit but at least I'm not blinding on coming traffic.

Did a quick ride by the river after work with my buddy. I noticed the trans temp climb slightly as I powered through the deep sand so I might be looking into a larger tranny cooler.

I find the whole generation “correction” interesting. I’ve had dealer personnel refer to the 14+ Tundras as 3rd gens, and we all referred to them as 3rd gens. Did we all just assume that, or does anyone else think of this as a revision by Toyota for some dumb marketing purposes?
