Man...some people here.... seems like no one will be happy no matter what. So let's just say...

Tundra has 4k payload, 30k towing, and rides like a dream, everyone here will complain that is way to much and unacceptable in a half ton and you're crazy to haul that much

Bare bones interior with manual windows and locks, huge doorknob style buttons and knobs, ya know, for gloves?, solid titanium black interior pieces with self healing technology.. people will complain about the lack of flat screen TV, lazy boy recliner seats, and a servant that refills your champagne as they drive you around in your truck for you while you sit in the passenger seat

V8 nuclear powered engine that will literally last until the sun collapses, never needs to be refueled, maintained, and produces 1 millions hp and 5 million tq. And runs completely silent....someone would have to pitch their idea that they just HAVE to have the sound of a gas guzzling v8, and proceed to list their points on why old technology is so much better and more reliable than new technology.

Remember when people thought touch screen phones would never catch on? Exactly. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and many here are older than me. We've all seen the changes technology can bring, and how reliable it can be. Give it time. It might be better than you expect, especially coming from toyota.

Easy to call out poor engineering. Not everyone is “Thank you, sir, may I have another”.

Shush. Why use an existent solution when you can have Toyota eventually engineer a new one? :D

If Toyota could have just got close to Ford & GM's payloads on equal trim packages I would have bought one.......I really don't think that's asking for much is it? Notice I didn't even say match, just get kind of close. It's not like the Tundra hasn't been know for a low payload since its creation.

Like most everyone else I want to see what the prices and MPG’s are.

on a side note, I really didn’t like the TRD PRO in the new body style and still don’t. But digging the look of the 1794. The black bumper valance on the pro, the extra badging on the hood, and the camo look on the fenders and other black pieces just look off. I think the bumpers on the other trims make it look decent. Giving it a frame around the grill. When prices come out may look at switching. Wonder if my decked system and Leitner rack will move straight over?

It's kind of hard to exaggerate payload, it's simply GVWR - Curb Weight.

I guess it's possible that they're lying about GVWR, but I kind of seriously doubt that.

The rack and decked most likely will not, the composite bed and rail system has some different things about it that traditional truck bed accessories don't fit right most of the time. The bed looks a little shallower to me as well, but it may be an optical illusion.

Most folks around my area that drive the top end trucks drive them to their bank job or to the grocery store and never see a trailer. They’re seen as luxury vehicles and status symbols. That’s my point.

Whether they fudge curb weight numbers or not, they make compromises in weight savings to bring curb weight down as low as possible. Compromises Toyota is apparently unwilling to make.

The domestics also for the most part have smaller fuel tanks, I believe. How much fuel you carry in a full tank affects your curb weight and thus how much room is left till get you get to gross weight.

A lot of us have said this before, but I would really really not like to try pulling a 13k lb trailer with a 4500lb F150. I don’t care if Ford says it can be done.

Yes, but my comment was aimed towards the people that just drive them as commuters and not work trucks, which is a high percentage of diesel trucks these days

1/2 tons are called "light duty" for a reason... I totally get why they appeal to the masses (not just people who use them for work). I for one love sitting up high and having a commanding view of the road. I don't want to be in a little bitty car with everyone towering over me.

So is it official that the new TTv6 doesn't require premium fuel? I totally missed that update. This forum has blown up since the release on Sunday.

From what I understand it is just the way the US measures octane vs the rest of the world. 87 in US, 91 everywhere else

The "octane" you see on the pump is actually the anti knock index, which is the average of the RON and MON.

When I spoke to my dealer yesterday he said they aren't expecting to know allotment or delivery of said allotment for another 4 to 6 weeks minimum. I'm on the list (#3 in line) for a TRD Pro. And once they know what they are getting and when then they will take deposits. They also are no longer selling cars to out of state residents. They have always sold at MSRP and have had to tell folks driving in from surrounding states where dealers are all above MSRP that they wont sell to them so that they can preserve their inventory for their local customers. A second Toyota dealer close to me is at 2k to 4k over MSRP on every car on the lot, and selling them all. 2k over is for in state buyers, 4k over is for out of state buyers. Wouldn't commit to HOW much over they were going to be on the TRD Pro but assumed it was going to be at least 5k. And they wanted 1k deposit before they would put your name on the wait list. Yeah, uhm, f-off. Now time will tell if there will be any shenanigans with the dealer who has me on the wait list. I half expect them to list it at MSRP and then jack up their dealer charges. Time will tell. In the end, if I stay with my '15 and do some things I have been holding off on doing it wont be the end of the world.

Side note, I live near the largest auto auction on the East Coast. Buddy of mine runs the MB auction there. They are still seeing used cars go across the block at retail prices. And it's not slowing down. This market is crazy.

A whopping 37lbs. On equal trims, except you get 1ft more in the bed of the tundra. I don't know how much closer you want it to be.

My brother's 2019 Sierra SLT crew cab 6.5 ft box has 1700 lbs and I'm guessing he could have had 1900 lbs if he opted for the max trailering package (which would have bumped his GVWR from 7100 lbs to 7300 lbs). That would have been plenty for me, especially since I'd be buying an SR5, not a Limited or Platinum so I'd probably have a bit more than that.

Just called my dealer and he said something similar. Nov-Dec time frame before orders can be placed. He said I am either #1 or #2 on the list.

are you guys really going to pay 5K or more over MSRP just to say you have one of the first Pro models? Whats the most someone is willing to pay, 10K over?

I mean its your cash, cool if you are but Im just kinda intrigued but that.

this market is odd, thats for sure

And let's compare the non-hybrid options while we're at it.

Everyone pretty much knows by now that the payload on the hybrid options from any manufacturer is going to suck.

I'm guessing Ford Lariat is close to a Tundra limited? I've seen a payload sticker from a 4x4 CC 5.5' box Lariat at 1,953 lbs. Even if we decide a Lariat is more in line with an SR5....show me a payload of 1,953 lbs on a 4x4 CC SR5, I'll be more than happy if you can prove me wrong when they arrive. Hell, I'd be thrilled to see an SR-5 with a 1,700 lb payload.
