Exactly. The 2022 is an awesome truck- better looking, more refined, more capable. The big issue is the power train. With the v8- you know what you are getting. You can go 150k miles without major repairs.

In the next 2-4 years, we have have raw data to tell us more about the engines. How long before the turbos need to be rebuild? Is this engine direct injection only or does it have port- that could be an issue.

if you are telling me that at 100k miles the turbos need to get rebuilt- hope the engineers made it easy. Like an easy to work on wastegate/down pipe to access the turbo studs in vehicle. But most likely the engine will have to be either partial lifted or removed to actually swap the turbos.

If the turbos are expensive to modify or work on- this will affect the resale value too. Too many unknowns- hope these turbos are good for 150k miles but we will see.

Welp. Looks like the forum finally changed the new tundra to the 3rd gen. We’ve been demoted to 2.5 gens. :(

I still secretly wanted the 2022 Tundra do be a rebadged LC70. I know there are good reasons why that didn't happen but I still secretly want it to.

Given my recent complaints around here, the secret may not be so secret any more.

I get the road speed sign popup on my on my Avalon display as well but it isn't from any magic scanning road signs. It comes from the navigation map data.

Looks like rear axle took 300 lbs deduction as well.
Sir, that is not a demotion, it is a badge of honor.

It means you aren't a sucker worshiping the false promises of the 3rd gen.

Robin: 22.5 gallon tank, Holy Jerrycan Batman!

Batman: No Boy Wonder, it is 2 Jerrycans if you want to tow anything west of the Misiissippi.

And what happened to 300lbs of GAWR

Will be a huge shame if hybrid models also get the shaft on tank size.

I do think this logically has to be the case. When you do some simple estimates, if a base 2WD DC (minus the Hybrid) is going to only have 1940 lbs of payload, the only way to to any reasonable payload with a roughly 400 lbs battery in a TRD Pro/4WD 1794 or Platinum is to steal more payload from the fuel tank.

Sure they could put the 32 gallon tank in it, but you'd be giving up about 100 lbs of Payload between 80 lbs of fuel and 20 lbs of increased material.

I'm definitely buying one so I'll be the test b%tch I guess with a few others on here.

Probably TRD PRO in either Lunar Rock, MGM, or Solar Octane. I like the red interior but not sure about that with Solor Octane - TOO MUCH RED-NESS! Maybe MGM with the red interior - if it's as fast as I expect it to be the red interior will be appropriate. All the options. I'll probably do the lift from the dealer (depending on cost, otherwise aftermarket) and I'll bolt on 35s or maybe 37s if they'll fit. I'm comfortable up to about $80k so we'll see if I can fit everything I want inside that number.

TSS 2.5 uses camera on windshield and can read the sign, as I mentioned my 2021 Penske moving truck had the same and no navigation. Its a terrible nanny feature.

This post saddens me and I'm sure there are thousands of others just like you. Nothing released yesterday is worth that kind of money, yet you trd pro buyers continue throwing huge sums of money at Toyota.

Someone asked why Toyota didn't make a TRX or Raptor competitor. Easy answer is that they don't have to. You guys are spending that kind of money on an inferior (specs) truck with a "cool" stamped piece of sheet metal and slightly upgraded shocks.

TRD pro is a meaningless trim and a massive profit margin for Toyota.
:bananadead: flame on but I'm not wrong.

I don't flame you. To each his own. I have to buy two vehicles before March (one for me, one for the wife) and they have to last us the rest of our lives. So we're buying what we want no holds barred. She is probably getting a RAV 4 Prime. Our situation and requirements are different than yours and everyone elses. And we're not paying that for some stamped metal, we're paying that because we know we're getting quality that will last. Be happy for us, we will be.

For context: I work for a subisdiary of Mercedes. I get a new mercedes cars every 8 months as employee perk. Last car I drove was a GLC43 AMG coupe. Her: GLC300 SUV. We're done with that and want something to own. We're both on the edge of 60 and won't be buying cars again. This Tundra and the RAV4 are our picks.

its like that for every manufacturer these days. People dropping $80-$90k on loaded 1 ton trucks like it’s nothing, but still turn around and bitch about truck prices

Nothing is worth that kind of money....to you!

To others it may be, and thankfully they can take their money and spend it as they feel the need to. With or without your condescending sentences towards people willing to buy a new truck.

Key word is BE HAPPY FOR US! You didn't talk down to his decision to not buy one, like you said to each their own! Biggest part of the problem in this country is people inputting their opinions in other's business where it doesn't need to be.

Also, likewise my wife and I are in the market for a new full size pickup truck. I sold the Tundra for a $5,900 PROFIT. Regardless of the reliability of the truck, $6,000 is $6,000 in my pocket.

She fell in love with the new Chevy Silverado ZR2, while I like the bells and whistles and that 6.2L motor it's not a Tundra. I was hoping the Tundra would blow her away during the reveal but it didn't blow either one of us away. I like the Sport model with the color matched panels and front end but don't like the lack of a Max option and the lowered stance. Only time will tell which we choose!

Yeah I already run mid grade in my vehicles. But it’s definitely an added expense, albeit I don’t put but 8,000-9,000 miles a year on a truck so it won’t be a huge hit to the pocket.

The longer the Tundra marinates on my mind the more I like the look, just not the camo-like black trim on the Pro models. Everything else I’m sold on so far.

At least on a 1 ton truck you can do some work with it and it can make money for you if you so desire....

well the 3.5 liter twin-turboV35A-FTS V6 produces 309 kW (415 hp) and 600 N⋅m (440 lb⋅ft) of torque in the LS500 and was introduced in the LS500 back in 2017 so its already been tested for a while.

just retuned for a tundra and using a different transmission.

Well the 3.5tt is the same motor used in hybrid or non-hybrid form so I would believe that the ratings for that motor will end up being affected also.

The email could be wrong, but im just passing along the information I have.

Being that they just announced this truck, im sure the information they have is being carefully sorted through before being published.

Power is what we are talking about @Dilleytech. But once those MPG numbers are officially released I would not be surprised that the numbers are higher when using premium fuel.
