ya, true, its too bad if that many people like the truck and want one. to get dicked around when you are spending that kinda of cash is shameful. Its bad enough to have to pay MSRP, but then you get into this bidding BS.

I dont want a pro, I cant stand that camo for starters, but I feel bad for those that do and have to deal with that BS.

If/when I go to buy a platinum, I hope I don't have the same shit because Im not getting into that. Eitherway, I still may just get the AT4 6.2 V8 as the exterior of that truck is sOOOOOOOOO much better looking IMO

Hmmmm, this is going to be interesting then. I love my 2018, but would love to cut my fuel costs down considering we're upwards of $6/g in Canada...

Not a fan, gotta keep the 2020 going into retirement. If I buy something else, very doubtful, I will go GMC or Ram, really like the V8 in a full size truck. Sure the TTV6 will last, but not for me. Will take a lot of miles of higher mpg to make up to outlay of cash.

I wouldn't put much stock in that just yet, that may be before you get into Toyotas huge reserve, my light goes on now and I ahve like 10 gallons left, lol

details will come soon on the MPG crap..

Im more concerned about getting the damn platinum to match on the outside, flares, gray pieces, chrome grill, badge etc.

its hodge podge again at the moment from that blue one I see. That said, that blue looks nice almost like Yamaha blue, I want to see one in person though.

I don't think it'll be an issue. 4Runners and Land Cruisers have been using those buttons on their hatches for a few generations now. I haven't heard of any frequent or common failures.

If they do the same dumb stuff with the gas tank, the new 32 gallon tank is going to be pretty small.

I feel like my thoughts on the truck have been marinating all day since I started watching the videos last night. More and more, it feels like Toyota tried to build a better copy of an American truck. There's nothing really authentic about it. Even the "easter eggs" feel forced. It was interesting when Dodge did it. It feels forced when Toyota copied it today. I don't see a single groundbreaking thing on this truck. Twin Turbo powertrain, hybrid, composite bed, coil spring rear suspension, big screen, panoramic roof, tailgate gadgets, etc..... The list goes on and on. They picked the features of the other trucks in the industry they wanted to copy. It feels like there's not a single thing on this truck that's really innovative.

When I start to think about it that way, I feel like I see the truck for what it really is. Being a copy doesn't mean it can't be good. (For a split second I felt like we were expecting the Sistine Chapel and got Caesars Palace, but I blame the idiotic roll out we've been going through all summer.) There's a lot of cars that are closely benchmarked on current vehicles, and they're great. The Genesis GV80 comes to mind.

To me, what we're seeing is a Toyota-fied F150. In that context, I don't actually mind it.

Completely agree... Toyota isn't known for innovation... they are known for being late to the party, but doing it with much higher quality.

I think any normal person should see it this way. I look at Toyota a lot like Apple. They never tend to be the first to do anything but they sure seem to make it most usable, user friendly and reliable. And there will always be a market for a little less amenities and a little more reliability.

    ^this

its also the Japanese culture to copy things that work but make them better, thats why we don't spend a ton of time in the repair garage.

its growing on me already and Ill likely wind up with one if it test drives well and I can figure out this color matched platinum crap

but hey, I got tundras.com to help me figure out how to get all teh mis-match off and color match on, woohooo.

If anything the current and past 5.7 Tundra’s just went up another 15% since yesterday’s introduction of the new TTV6 model.

Yeah, the comparable trims to my SR5 with the TRD Off Road package (my door jamb says 1270) are 350-400 lb higher.
Yeah, they’ve just cut weight in other areas. There’s no magic elixir. Available payload is gross weight - curb. That’s all there is to it. Ford is an all aluminum body with an intentionally lightweight but strong boxed frame. Toyota is partially aluminum body with a boxed frame.

As 2019 owner, I was pleased to hear about incease in mpg and power output. Then, I read the footnote regarding the power rating.

    1. Ratings achieved using the required premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher. If premium fuel is not used, performance will decrease.

It seem gas savings will be less than expected.
