My understanding is there’s a button behind the handle. So he was saying the handle does not actually move.

Junk. Sure hope these buttons don't have issues 10 years down the road.

I don't understand why there are so many people stating that just because the other manufacturers are pricing their trucks so high that must mean Toyota will follow suit. I think Toyota is smarter than that. They will want to price it so that it will draw interest from customers of the big 3 to move over to a Tundra. Also they have a small customer base currently (compared to the other manufacturers), why risk pricing a large portion of their customer base out of the trucks? They are in the market to sell trucks, not to see who can have the highest price tag.

Better handling for extreme heat/cold I believe. Not an expert, but that was what I was told.

I don't care worth two dead flies what the door jamb says. If I want to increase the load capacity, enhance cargo management, sway control, tongue weight capacity, I do it. Within reason of course.

Not gonna try to get 1ton capacity from a half ton axle, but simple suspension enhancements are no big deal to accomplish better all-around performance compared to the soft stock suspension.

That's interesting...I hope they have a cooler for them. The inside of a truck in Texas gets easily 140 in the summer.

The recent trends in buyers paying at or over MSRP may convince auto manufacturers that folks are willing to pay a higher price. Time will tell IF we ever get back to some sense of normalcy.

2021's aren't even discounted. Multiple dealers have folks offering over MSRP already.

I'd love to see 7-9% off MSRP for a brand new one. I'd pay to see it.

Also Toyota doesn't sell the cars. Dealers do. Unless there's factory incentives, there will be no discount from MSRP.

Cause people are paying those prices. Raptors go for $70k MSRP all day everyday, even GMs demanding their stupid MSRP in this climate and they usually could be had for 15-20% off MSRP prior to covid supply, just the reality. Toyota can ask those prices and will get them easily.

The frame and suspension on my F-250 is completely different then the Tundra. Hard to compare a 1/2 ton to an HD truck, they’re designed and built completely different.

They have been putting buttons on SUV and Minivan lift gates for a long time. Kinda goes along with the key fob opening

So it's probably ok since it's Toyota but I've read of too many Chevy owners who can't get into their beds.

The used market is absolutely nuts right now because of the shortage of inventory. Hopefully Toyota's route to not limit the number of new Tundras produced will help ease the availability and potential mark-up. Time will tell.

My CR-V button was a pain the ass. It wouldn't open if all the doors weren't unlocked. Also if the car is running and the doors aren't all unlocked you can't use the fob to either A. open it or b. unlock the doors to open it.

Well, There is that, but the electronic servo/actuator goes with the key fob operation, can't do both mechanical and remote without a much less reliable setup. I think you can do either/or.

I will say it depends on the model. With the TRD launching in spring there could be enough time for an adjustment and chip restock to balance out. I myself keep forgetting the top trim isn't coming for another 6-7 months.

I wasn't talking about a discount off of MSRP from Toyota, I was stating that I don't think there will be the jump of $15-20K in MSRP that some people are speculating.

Probably not an issue as far as the button is concerned. I'd be more concerned about the electric actuator inside the tailgate. Seems Toyota probably considered that, but I beat on my truck tailgate quite a bit. Even partially submerged it a few times on sketchy boat launches

I recall someone leaking info that they were expected to start around 35k. I believe they will start pretty reasonably compared to other trucks. Unless you want a trd pro hybrid then ya 65-70k sounds about right. But luckily I have zero interest in hauling batteries. I curious to see what the sr5 cost and what kind of gadgets I can get the truck without. You can strip things like blind spot monitoring and auto adjusting headlights and automatic backup. I’ll be happy to pay for less of that stuff. Toyota knows prices will come down on used trucks when supply comes back… When will they post prices? Any ideas?

It'll jump but not that much. I think the TRD Pro will be close to the 70k range. It's going to have a lot of the newest tech and the hybrid standard so it'll probably be the biggest jump in price.

i hope so, -40F temps and regular -10 to -20F temps during winter will affect batteries up here.

thats why you hardly see any tesla's running around during winter up there in ND

Toyota probably does it better, our 2020 Corolla hatchback has the rubber button instead of a latch. If you have the fob in your pocket, it opens (and unlocks all the doors, configurable in the infotainment screen) and if you don't have the fob, but any door is open or unlocked, it'll open.

I think that was his point... $70k for TRD Pro would be a $15k jump

I'd expect the TRD Pro to have the steepest price jump, with the hybrid being mandatory.

only issue is the pro is based on the limited version. so you are really paying a markup on a limited.

its like buying a TSS version (just a fancy SR5 with rims/bling for 5-10k markup that you could get for about 3k if you did it yourself :)

ready for the :crapstorm: to come
