I am excited to see the build threads when these start showing up on the forum. I'd like to see some black 2022s.

Wonder how much a body shop will charge to fill in the stamp on the tailgate. I personally feel the current Gen is too big. This is hideous

I don't think Ford, Chevy, RAM, or GMC have found a golden engineering elixir to increase payload or towing that escapes Toyota. I'm not an engineer but I think if you asked a Ford engineer 'off the record' if their F150 could actually 'handle' 2900lbs of payload they'd probably say 'yes, depending on how much risk you are willing to accept.' Toyota has always played inside the box, AFIAK.

You really think you'll get a discount off MSRP in this climate and a new gen tundra...

Then it probably has a button in there, much like when you open the door on a Corvette.

5200rpm is significant. That shows it doesn't have to wind up to say 6500rpm to achieve peak HP. HP formula is TorquexRPM/5252.

Hell, even my fiancee's new hybrid RAV4 we paid MSRP minus rebates, cause there was no inventory and people willing to pay over MSRP for them, I extremely doubt a brand new highly desired Tundra in the current climate is gonna sell for anything less. I'm looking at jumping to one but know I'll be paying MSRP, 12 Toyotas in and the RAV was the first we ever paid even close to MSRP and it hurt, but she needed AWD.

Toyota should have had their shit together and had EPA certified mpg averages and pricing when they did this.
Torque output is intriguing but if this new truck is $70k and gets 22mpg it’s a loser

actually yes, since we usually dont have the same dealers some states that just jack up the price due to "market adjustments"

Thats why I'm hesitating, looking at even the domestics, I'm betting Toyota prices them similar, a loaded King Ranch F150 costs $60k+, hell even a well optioned XLT sport is near $60k, these wont be cheap and commanding MSRP at first.

Absolutely. I wouldn't buy one otherwise. I don't expect deals as high as some have mentioned here in the past but yes, there will be plenty of dealers that will deal. If they won't, then move onto one who will. The people giving up on getting a good deal before it's even out only contribute to the problem. Call it a spin off of the Pygmalion effect where you end up creating a reality by assuming it's already in place.

actually if you watch the redline review, he actually shows a tundra with different front A-pillars. one side blacked out and the other side color matched, but its pre production.

    A bunch
2000 lbs seems quite low since the 2nd gen could handle 2000 lbs if the leaf springs weren't made of cooked spaghetti. But again, there's zero standards for payload for the manufacturers to follow.

And in the podcast Mike Sweers even said that the Towing standard is not followed identically. Toyota follows it that someone with very little experience can tow those numbers and not be white knuckling it - drive with other half tons and the whole setup is far more on edge than the Tundra setup

The market is very different my friend than it was just a year ago, even RAV4s are fetching MSRP, chip shortage, supply issues and demand, there will be plenty of people willing to pay MSRP and that will set the bar, especially on a hot new model. Sucks but its the reality, I've had 12 Toyotas, mostly Tacomas, always land somewhere around 10-13% off MSRP, but realize thats not the current landscape. COVID world now.

Full hybrid, does full regenerative braking etc. Layout similar to the F150 powerboost where the hybrid motor is sandwiched between the gas engine and torque converter- boosting power output of the gas engine.

I will be super bummed if the prices inch higher towards the Raptor and TRX level truck prices. I do think if that happens its going to knock alot of people out of the Tundra all together.

I looked at those Car and Driver photos again and I don't think I like any of the grill options except for the Pro.

Max payload is always GVWR - Curb Weight.

The only specified weight from the manufacturers is GVWR.

Agreed, I have no need for a Tundra, Tacoma works for me right now, but was hoping to have more room for growing family and more weekend chores, but at $60k no thanks, and I fear thats gonna be a well equipped TRD OR SR5's price point just based on current MSRP for other manufacturers, I reached out to my dealer dude to get the process rolling on a possible allocation but at $60k I'll probably pause and wait.

At this point I want to grab a Pro but I have a feeling the price point is going to push me down to a Limited.

Got it. Does anyone know why they went with the Ni batter over lithium?

I hope it doesn't come with a god awful pedestrian alert system like the ford.
