I dont know about those too much

I just mean same tundra hybrid vs non-hybrid so we can see if its really worth it all things considered.

I'm waffling on the hybrid as well, the power is surprisingly good for a Toyota hybrid, I wasn't expecting such a bump in power.

But losing the under seat storage is a bummer, I definitely use under seat storage in my current truck.

Going to keep an eye on how the non-hybrid performs, I suspect that version will be average in all metrics.

Need to see real world mpg’s, especially towing 3k before I make the jump. I really dig the platinum/ 1794 interiors but hate the chrome exteriors. Trd pro black interior is slick, but the short box only option limits it out for me (assuming 6.5 bed and crewmax are an available option).

I think sr5 4x4 twin turbo is going to be plenty for me. I dont need all that other stuff. Wondering if sr5 will have rear locker however

I think it would have been cool if Toyota gave us a bed storage like the Ridgeline for what the battery took .

I'm a fan of the automatic air dam. Out of the way at low speeds and deployed at highway speeds. Nice.

this is the one I am most concerned about, if sweers gave us a more tacoma door opening getting in and out experience. I'll have to see an actual truck to tell but Im not interested in folding in half to get in out and like the taco.

its hard to tell from all these videos, that said the official toyota video looks like they used a dude that is 5-7" to get in and out lol

Same here. Based on price and efficiency I will either go hybrid or base. I think the non-hybrid will perform better than the current 5.7 so for me that is more than enough, so to jump up to the hybrid it needs to make sense for me.

Yes, most of my under seat stuff is tow straps, jumper cables, tie downs, etc. I could definitely keep that stuff elsewhere.

I think it will if you get the TRD Off Road package.
I saw that trim in the Truck King video on YouTube. Comes with lots of chrome too

He kinda did... His first sentence was "I’ve been waiting to cancel my F150 lightening and Rivian for this truck." Those are both all-electric trucks

What is the concern about the battery being under the seat? Worried about it catching fire or just don't like that it is taking up that space that could be used for storage?

A lot of complaints about the lack of "power" in the hybrid bed. That Powerboost 7.2kw generator is great but you most likely wouldn't buy a Ford for it so you won't not buy the Toyota for the lack of it. Besides, that feature in the Ford JUST came out ... you expected Toyota to have copied it that fast?

A lot of complaints about the looks. Like others have said, you'll get used to it. Very few vehicles (I can really only think of one) have gotten better looking each time they changed but when you look at the older version of whatever one you preferred at the time, it probably doesn't look that great anymore (think Cadillacs and Corvettes). Besides, it's not like the outgoing gen 2 is a beauty queen!

Negatives I see so far are the payload drop from 1940 to 1270 on the 1794 CM hybrid ... wow, that's a HUGE drop (yes, I realize the 1940 lbs was a stripped 2wd DC but still). Much of the blame probably goes to that nimh battery. Nimh has a lower energy density so it's heavier and larger for less net power. They definitely dropped the ball when it comes to storage in the hybrid. My back seat is going to be pretty messy. I might have to finally get one of those bed tool boxes - yuck.

It's been almost a full year since Ford first introduced the Powerboost engine and it's capabilities. Yes, I understand development times and all that jazz, but to say it just came out is pretty misleading.

    Too many, but not enough....
The 2021 is a dinosaur, which is exactly why i bought it. I dont see how a brand new modern truck would be better in any way when you consider I (and probably alot of other current toyota truck drivers) dont care about gas mileage, tech, refinement, looks, or electronics, or they would drive anything else. Reliability and simplicity is what sets toyota apart.

Don’t get the hybrid, if you plan to tow. It’s useless when towing and it’s a dead weight that only decreases payload

My worry of hybrid is that the battery is definitely not going to last as long as I own the truck.

I am very impressed by the Rivian R1T. It's super compelling, looks way better engineered than F150.

However, with the new Tundra being so nice, we'll be using it for long road trips, and I suspect the mpgs will be good enough. I do 12+ hour drives while the wife and kid relax, just stop for breaks, gas and food. Only takes 5 min to put 400miles range back into an ICE vehicle.

I don't want to deal with finicky Charge America charging stations, long wait time for full charge, and almost none of the charging stations are setup as pull through for towing, which is a huge deal for us.

When charging stations are setup for towing trucks and they get a reputation for always being operational, maybe I will consider an EV truck next time.
