Yeah, especially given how much Toyota likes hybrids. Though they do weird things elsewhere too like not giving the Corolla hatchback the hybrid engine.

meh .... still will wait to see one in person. wasn't overly just blown away from any one thing.

the four big ut ohhhh's I saw were:
    (a) back seat on the hybrid won't allow the dog kennel. pup ain't gonna be happy if she has to stay home.
    (b) NiMh battery? I mean I understand the limited availability of Li-Ion but geeesh I can see that needing to be replaced much sooner than the Li-Ion battery which is going to be $$.
    (c) not everyone in this world wants cammo in their interior or exterior. what was being smoked when some einstein gave the thumbs up for that?
    (d) come on Toyota. why force everyone to get chrome accent pieces? how about painted pieces and those that want chrome, now they can be forced for once to purchase those pieces like we have been forced to buying painted accent pieces for years. interior looks OK but man they could have made it so much better for not much more money. it will look dated in 5 years or less.

I'm praying they have that option because I was really hoping they would tone down the chrome on the newer model.

Refinement has a lot of connotations. Your focus on how panels or seems fit together is not the same as mine, haven't had any problems with that in any vehicles the past three decades. In fact, I would say the current (2.5) Tundra's lean, bed rattle, notorious body roll, and off-center alignment make it exactly unrefined by your definition. Have you seen the inside of plastic in the current (2.5) Tundra, it is total crap. It scuffs, scratches, and somehow seems to grab hold of dirt and never let it go. If you scrub hard to remove it makes more scuffs under the pressure of a soft cloth.

I don't care; I like it for it's simplicity. It's got a job to do and it does it.

The Car and Driver photos show a 1794 with the 6.5ft bed and TRD Off-road package, so that’s promising

I do like that the hybrid is sandwiched in between the engine and transmission and not have its own motors at the wheels, so you can let the transfer case and rear lockers do their thing. I don't like the battery under the rear seat though. Although I don't know where else it could be put to make it serviceable.

I watched multiple videos and a few showed the key fob. No button for remote start on any of them......

Maybe if you say "open sesame" and hold the lock button for 5 seconds you can remote start the truck.

I know you can do it on the Toyota app, but it is very handy to have it on the remote.

We helped my mother in law but a little Hyundai Sonata last year and it was about $18k out the door. Even it had remote start by the key fob and the app.

Just quoting this one to not search for your fuel tank comment

TFL Podcast with Mike Sweers mentions new truck is 32 gallon fuel tank - 4 hours at max towing without stopping

Very nice specs, Specially on the hybrid. I see lot of 2019+ Tundra owners on here trying to feel better for buying a 15 year old truck lol. Looks are personal preference, lot of people don't like the current gens.

A lot of newer Toyotas have remote start built in by doing just that, but for 8 seconds and the open sesame is optional lol.

I really really like the solid color look better than the Pro with the black wheel well and tailgate accents. I hope the locker is available in this version as well as a non standard hybrid motor

Just think, we have to listen to the back and forth about the TRD Pro for at least 6 more months before it's a reality on this forum of ownership.

Who knows the speed it was tested at, could be 80 MPH so would be 10 MPG. Hardly a surprise to be down in the 8-10 MPG range when towing 10k+ lbs with a turbo engine

Interesting that the Pro has marker lights not because the sheet metal is different but because the wheels have more offset and the plastic fender flares are wider. Sure sounds like that was done so the marker lights were “needed.” Ugh. Marker lights were cool about 10 years ago. Now it’s just gimmickey.

Why with all the chrome!!!! And now around the windows!!!! Gross.

As much as I would like a 6.5 bed, the crewmax with the 5.5 is enough of a PIA to park. Do all of you that want a 6.5 live in the country? The parking PIA is the main reason I haven’t gone 3/4 ton yet.

I do like the new tundy so far except the crime and that front grille. Dropped the ball there.

I kept back from commenting until the reveal due to all the speculation, but this is a huge swing and miss for Toyota IMO. Other than the improved suspension and some upgrades in the Tech, the rest of it is completely underwhelming. Its not like they didn't have the time to figure out what they needed to do to keep the loyal and current owners happy, and lure others to the brand.

Rear locker/crawl control/MTS available on SR5/Limited, standard on Pro.

Electronic power steering seems like a miss…but likely necessary due to new safety features on TSS 2.5.

Liking the boxed frame and rear locker.

I'm pretty happy with the reveal. Not super stoked on the some details, like the black tailgate and wheel well, but the hybrid numbers are impressive. That's a butt ton of torque for a standard option Pro motor. Can't wait to drive one. I wonder what the future supply line is going to look like with all these factory shut downs?

Used to drive a dually work truck for a few years, and still regularly drive crew cab 6.5' or 8' beds so I'm used to it. Eventually you don't notice the extra 1' from 5.5 to 6.5. Going to an 8' bed with a crew cab finally makes a difference.

Our $20K 2020 Corolla HB has remote start. You have to set it up with the Toyota Connect App initially, do it while the App is free. After it is setup, the car can be remote started by 3x lock holding lock on 3.

I dislike it though. The moment you open a door, car shuts off.
On my Q60, if I remote start it, it keeps running no matter what door is open. Just jump in with the fob in pocket and drive away, no extra steps.

I'll probably go with a DC 6.5 bed if I can get it with TRD locker.
But I might even get the CM 6.5 if available with locker also, I live in the Seattle area, parking is tight. But, I also drive F550 bucket trucks and CDL and have become quite accustomed to even bigger trucks. Doesn't bother me. I say more truck, more better!
