    Hi All,
Really need your advice here, I went through a lot of information on different materials/brands for reducing the road noise.

I'm currently upgrading my speakers so planning to sound deaden the doors while I'm at it, brands I'm looking at (Dynamat, Noico, Secondskin, sound skin). I have a couple of questions
    - Can I mix between those brands?
    - Most of the noise is coming from the tires, any advice here for something that actually worked?
    - In one of the threads someone suggested that for best noise reduction, MLV has to be used, the only brand that does that is second skin, is this true?I don't see Dynamat has it as an option!
    https://www.secondskinaudio.com/car-soundproofing-packages/audio-door-kits
    - Some of the brands advice multiple layers(inner and outer skins) like Noico and SecondSkin, while others just one layer (Dyamat), which is better?

lots of info and threads on sound deadening in the audio forum here. Search or look around for good info.
Should not matter if you mix brands

What tires are you running that are so loud? Are they wearing properly and truck is aligned? I run E load, 33inch aggressive ATs and have more wind noise than tire noise.

There are some threads with pictures where people removed seat, carpet, headliner and everything to put sound deadening everywhere.

I used this on my old Tacoma with 35s and I just did it on my Tundra. I used 1 can per fender. I applied it on front firewall fenders. Seems to work well in reducing road noise. Of course using sound deadening in the cab makes a huge difference 065074D1-17E6-458A-84C5-4DCD3AEB43F0.jpg

You guys rocking Magic Ears or do I need one because I'm missing all that 'road noise'? Maybe it's good the Army took part of my hearing?

The truth is, there's really not much you can do to keep outside sounds outside. Sound dampening materials are mainly used for audio purposes. They might help a tiny bit, but hardly worth the effort and cost imo. The most significant thing you can do to help with road noise is to use quieter tires and quiter exhaust. Of course, most of us tend to go in the opposite direction with those two.

This truck has half the ambient noise my old rig did, I'm still getting used to how quiet it is after 6 months. That and tint make me feel like I'm in a hermetically sealed capsule.

Thats too loud, they must really be humming. Quickest fix would be to replace them with a quieter tire.

Tell me about it, I'm thinking of the cooper discoverer AT3 but not sure how much quieter it will be!

That's the thing, I was thinking the same, then some started talking about the Butyl and MLV as effective ways, got me confused again!

Those are quiet, just a slight hum at speed. Most important thing with tires is keeping them inflated properly and rotate every 5k miles and of course keeping the truck in good shape, front end aligned, wheels balanced. Doing so will keep them wearing well and as quiet as possible.

Just to add to the posts. I agree the road noise isn't great, and in stock form, notably louder than my 5th gen 4Runner was (and louder than my GF's 3rd gen tacoma).

To combat this I did near 100% coverage of 80mil CLD (I used a mix of Siless and Noico) to cover the floor, outer door skins, inner door skins, pillars, and rear wall, and then a few panels of it on the roof; on top of that I did 3M Thinsulate SM200L. Wherever possible I did two or as many layers of the SM200L as I could stack (and still have air between the layers).

In the 4Runner I did 80mil CLD, then CCF, then MLV; and honestly the CLD/Thinsulate combo was not only MUCH easier to install/work with, I think it made a bigger difference. The only things I would do differently next time would be to do 100% roof coverage with CLD (I'm at ~40%, I was tired and wasn't trying to get the headliner out given I have a DC with solid rear window) and spend more time stuffing every void space with Thinsulate. I would also probably order a mix of SM200L and SM400L Thinsulate.

The difference is notable (and impressive), but far from silent. After 30k miles, only a few rotations, and an alignment that has been off slightly for 25k+ miles the Wildpeaks have a solid hum from them at 50+mph, but having a conversation isn't really strenuous at all.

If you're looking for MLV, you can also buy some no-name options off of Amazon in various thickness (weight).
