I like the red interior. I'll probably match it up with MGM - unless the 'special color' is special.

Also towing fine print is there. It mentions calculations are made with the new SAE J2807 standards of measure.

A bit surprised, some of all y'all are referring to a "TRD Pro Hybrid".
Did Toyota actually say such a truck would exist?
I would be very surprised (in a positive way) if Toyota made a TRD Pro Hybrid. I would presume they will make the hybrid available for certain trims, maybe SR5 up to anything not a TRD Pro

why wouldn’t they put the most expensive engine option in the most expensive truck option?

So, that is what Toyota has said?

Looking at other trucks, I can't recall anyone making the Hybrid version available on the more off-road oriented trims.
Don't get me wrong, I think it'd be cool.....but Ford doesn't PB their Tremor, and I don't think RAM and GM ever made their mild hybrid systems available on their burliest off-road trims??

Someone has to be first, so maybe Toyota will be the one. Of all the truck makers in the market Toyota has vastly more knowledge of hybrid systems and what makes them work well than the others.

In other news my 2007 has heard my rumblings about wanting a new truck and has spitefully thrown a P0420 check engine code. I suspect a bad cat, given the sound it’s making… like stuff rattling around in a can. To think I just dropped $966.81 on new shoes for the old girl, now I have a bad catalyst. Probably not going to fix it because I don’t live in a state with emissions inspections.

I honestly hope you're right. I could give 2trds about a hybrid. I just hope the TRD Pro that's available in the spring isn't the standard TTv6. I need a truck. Deer season is right around the corner.

Maybe Toyota putting a battery in their off-road trim is what they are referring to as 'the world beater' since no one else is doing it?

Not sure Toyota refered to the 2022 as "world beater". I thought a dealer said that. I could be wrong tho

Not sure I want a Pro with a Hybrid engine. What’s the point in that when you are ripping it up in the dirt and sand at full throttle, or crawling up a steady incline or rocks… the battery doesn’t last long then you need to carry it around shaking the shiza out of it? To run Light is King I don’t care what anyone says. But a battery would be great for over landing and camping!

So this entire thread has asked 'what can Toyota do that the others haven't?' and the one super easy one is to put a power AND fuel efficient engine in their most in demand trim. Would definitely increase interest from those who use Raptors and TRD Pros at work, used to work with those contractors a lot and they'd mention they'd love to not have to pay so much for fuel but they need a solid off road truck (bet a bunch have jumped on Tremor HD Fords since they came out), so a solid off road hybrid would be of big interest to those supervisors. And they tend to trade in trucks every 2-3 years max

Hybrid batteries in an off-road truck? I don't think you'll see that without a lot of added protection, and with that added weight, what's the point?

The Tundra should be going on a huge diet, and with batteries likely in the 500-750 lb range at worst the new Tundra should weigh the same as the old Tundra(Hybrid F150 is roughly 500 lbs lighter than current Tundra). So weight isn't an issue. And depending where the batteries are it could be sufficiently protected without any extra skids by the frame or fuel tank skid plate.

If the TRD Pro is only competing with Rebels, Tremors, and ZR2 then they don't need to put out huge power. But if they want to truly compete with the Raptor and TRX then big power is a must. But if they still target the truck that can off road target then one way to drive sales would be to have the most power. 410/470 doesn't do that, so add the hybrid and the TRD Pro would easily jump to the top of the Rebel, Tremor, ZR2 group.

But my point still stands, when did Toyota ever tease TRD Pro Hybrid? I think they did tease a Hybrid powertrain, but I don't see it on a Pro. I see the Hybrid maybe making it's way into non-Pro trucks, like the TRD 4x4 or TRD Off Road trims.
The one thing y'all need to realize id that whatever the Hybrid system weighs, will deduct from the capacity of the truck. If the Hybrid system weighs 450 pounds, and a Tundra TRD 4x4 has cargo capacity of 1900 pounds, a Hybrid TRD 4x4 would be 1450 pounds, and there'd be a solid chunk of people complaining that 1450 isn't enough.

I see the Pro having a later release date due to supply issues. I see the Tundra Hybrid being even later in 2022, can you imagine sourcing that many batteries during the pandemic?

Toyota Hybrids don't make impressive power (yet, maybe it'll change this Sunday).
If you truly believe that some version of the Tundra needs big power, you wouldn't be hoping for a Toyota Hybrid, you'd be hoping for a Toyota Prime version. Toyota's Prime is the system that brings more batteries, more power, can drive in EV only, and makes the vehicle significantly more powerful.

I would actually be interested in a Tundra Prime, I would never buy the Tundra in Hybrid.

    We find out tomorrow!

the vast majority of pro models sold never leave pavement. They are sold because they look cool. And one would assume the hybrid would be a option not a requirement for a pro.

A weight loss would be nice in the Pro for optimum performance. It’s obvious you have not seen what a few hundred pounds translates to in off road performance. The difference in 100 hp does not help you on slippery or rocky surfaces where the tire meets the surface. But taking off a few extra pounds will help you. I’m talking about the Pro which has a different purpose than the sr5 or Limited which are built for all
purpose: daily driver, work truck…. you (or your needs) are probably thinking of. For example & hypothetical comparison “With a weight of approximately 1,420 kg (3,130 lb), the plug-in version is only 50 kg (110 lb) heavier than the regular Prius.” So perhaps if Toyota does a hybrid for a large truck the difference may be 2 to 3 times that 110 lbs, that weight difference may take cargo weight space and could make a difference off road in those more extreme slippery or Baja running applications. Weight is everything but on a daily multi purpose truck 300 lbs or more perhaps has no bearing.

I think you are quoting the regular Prius weight to the Prius Prime weight. The Prime has 110 pounds more battery. A RAV4 LE Hybrid weighs 320 pounds more than a RAV4 LE non-Hybrid, for better comparison. So, a light(er)weight CUV needs 320 pounds in batteries for a basic Hybrid that really isn't amazingly fast. The Rav4 Prime, however, weighs at least 800-900 pounds more than a non-Hybrid RAV4, and the Prime has the Hybrid tech we want....long range, full-EV operation, much bigger power. But, it's much heavier.....in a CUV.....consider an equivalent system in the Tundra

For reference, Ford's PB is around 500 pounds more, and it adds nothing for towing and can barely run the truck in full EV. I would bet Toyota is really hoping to get solid state batteries up and running. Fords PB adds a lot of economy to flat land driving. But even Ford knows it can't tow (disables itself in towing) and they don't bother to offer it on the Tremor.

Semantics. I had a Jeep that you could select between 2WD, Full time 4WD/AWD, and Part Time 4 High and 4 Low. Though the vehicle had 2WD as an option, it also had a Fulltime 4WD option.

TOYOTA took the time available disclaimer down today from their fine print. **Edit** They didn't remove it.

As for the NFL, I was a huge follower. Then the kneeling happened. I took a stand and quietly walked away. Yr 1 took effort but honestly after Yr 1 I didn't care anymore and found a ton more free time on the weekends. Never realized how much time it consumed.

This is how I've always understood it. "Full-time" 4wd means you can leave it in 4wd for all driving conditions and surfaces. It means the option of leaving it in 4wd full-time. It does not necessarily mean there are no modes where power only goes to one axle.

Very different than 4wd on our trucks where you had better not be making turns on pavement in 4hi or 4lo.
