What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I just tried using about 3/4" of flat washers to drop mine and see what happens. It did make a bit of a difference, but there's still a vibration there. Mostly around 40mph now though.

The vibration is still there in 4wd

 

I have a drop on my Taco and it fixed my issues years ago.

50.00 seems steep for what it is. Ill be doing my rear lead soon and when I do ill make one for Tundra and see if anyone else needs one while at it

Cleaned the ol drivers side seat belt. Retracts like a charm again.

 

I still haven't figured out how to get my scan gauge to properly display trans temp. I have tried like 10 x gauges

 

WOW, you're all more involved with your trucks than I am. I just change my oil, rotate my tires and take care of items when the time comes (timing belt, fluids, etc.).
I think I feel a little guilt.....

Been a while. Too many projects that are g13 classified due to me not wanting to be audited. Just kidding I'll likely be audited anyway the way things are going. I had a couple family things that had to be ironed out and also some job stuff like being crazy busy building more parts for the banking industry and for cute little trailers than I can even quantify. Last I checked in May we clocked over 5,000 parts cut on the laser this year and our average part has to be 20"x20" or bigger.

Anyway that's my life. Now I'm getting ready for a memorial for my dear grandmother, rest her soul, in a few weeks. That means I'm pulling a trailer a few hundred miles and that means my clapped out leafs need freshening. Finally getting my newish leafs with mini packs and some bastardo treatment. I took 1 leaf out and added 2 thinner ones(see red squigglies) from a deaver pack I have in the back 40. We'll see how it works. I am also looking at my shiny new shocks and seriously contemplating just doing the axle and frame mounts to have the raptor bypasses on four corners. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Glad to be back and be back working on the tundra. I thought about selling it about 5 times. Who knows anymore. At this rate I'm as likely to sell it as I am to do an ls swap. Need mo powa. Much mo would be nice. A mild 5.3 will put down 100hp more than the 4.7. I'd miss 5th gear and that terrible cruise control though!

Might I suggest just popping the motor, throwing some early 1uz rods in and 10 psi of boost? Lol

 

After getting done with building my 4.7 jeep stroker for the 2nd time and still finding it extremely slow. I've decided to stick with common engine swaps instead of working around less than ideal engines. The toy 4.7 is an awesome engine, but not for this heavy of a truck. I'm worried doing gears and engine mods to a rather complicated engine with less tuning support than I'd like (ie, likely can't do it myself) will leave me with jeep stroker 2.0 (or is it 3.0 if I did 1.0 2 times?).

she was so much fun up until the end and I'm so glad she got to meet my two kids and get to know them. She held on long enough to see #2 and we got our last Christmas in 2020. Doctors didn't think we'd see that even with the treatment she stopped taking after 1 month. Little to regret besides knowing her better before that. I literally asked her every difficult question I could think of because we knew it was coming. Most people don't get that.

Well you pull that motor, let me know if you want it gone (assuming the price is right) I’m keeping my eyes open for a cheap western engine to eventually build into something fun. (Got a buddy willing to crack the ecu for me)

In other news I think I've fixed my T100's cyclinder 6 misfire. I swapped out spark plugs on number 6 and number 3 as well as their shared cool pack and all the wires and reset the ECU. Truck seems to be running so much better now. Also fixed the parking brake and tail gate handle. Next is install the Bilstein 4600s, center support bearing, headers, cat removal and I need to choose a good muffler for the 5vz... Also going to fix the shifter issues today (popping out of first, hard shifts, clutch adjustment).

Did the rear differential breather relocator. I chose to order a union from eBay and then bought 8 feet of 5/16" ID hose from the local advance auto parts store. Should have asked how much it was per foot before he cut it off the roll, it was $27 after tax. I used the factory breather instead of purchasing a new one. If I was to do it over again I would just buy the kit from the yota shop. I used every bit of the 8 foot of hose the way I ran it up to the backside of the driver side tail light. It took little less than 30 mins to do. I would recommend doing this to everyone. It's cheap and easy to do to have the piece of mind when driving through water.

Its remarkable what they charge for hose isn't it? Every time I buy hose im pissed.

 

It was instant regret lol. Especially after seeing how much it is online before hand, I figured it couldn't be much more in store.

 

Yup. I bought some braided fuel line for a car and it was around $6 per foot and I needed 6 feet. Gotta have it though, hopefully it lasts several years.

 

What's the story on this "rear differential breather" and why does it need relocating?

Is it prone to failure that much or are people regularly driving through 2 feet of water to see if they can get to the other side of the puddle?

 

My understanding is you address potential breather failure on older trucks, and prevent water entry on all trucks.

 

So the problem is the breather is right on top of the rear axle. Toyota has the front diff breather raised up in the engine bay already. I personally live in an area that has flooded roads quite often and is prone to hurricanes. Where I work at it doesn't take much rain to flood the roads to get to where I have to go. Been meaning to do this for awhile now. I say I recommend it because you never what kind of conditions you might get into. Mother nature doesn't care if you have relocated your breather or not.
