Stella finally made it to the front seat for a ride. She just turned one this week.

Her Vet calls her Ms. Sexy because she really is a beautiful Wemi.

Nice!!! My wife and I are going to be looking for a pup soon and are trying to find reputable Malinois breeders. After we put Vito down back in May (14.5yrs old), we are wanting to bring home a new family member.

    Thats awesome!
What do you have planned for the pup!? My boy is training for French Ring.
A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of watching a cadaver dog work. It was amazing

I plan on training the pup for hunting (hogs and quails mostly). I like their agility for ground birds, but I need to find out more about their bite force for bigger game. My Pit was excellent at hog hunting…when he set his eyes on a pig, it was game over. With birds he usually would come in like a freight train and scare them at longer distances so I rarely had good clear shots.

I also have a baby on the way, and need to train the pup quickly…and this I know Malinois’ excel in.

Haha! Gotta love the “gifts” they bring back. How do your Malinois do in heat? Some spots we go to get up their in temperature, and heat exhaustion was in some cases a game over for us.

They work so hard ! I keep a close eye on them, thats for sure but here are a few things I do to keep them comfortable. After my dogs work, I usually spray their feet and bellies to help them cool off. If I dont have the portable shower with me, I use water bottles. We keep sessions short. At home in the heat they have a pool. I try to keep them conditioned for the heat even if it means them staying in the outside kennel during the heat. My truck is wired for fans, but I usually use the Ryobi fans. I also have a Aluminet to cover the softopper, plus I lined it with Reflectix both together work great. I also wont work them if the weather is extreme.

Yeah, my wife had made a ingenious vest for our dog that had lunchbox freeze packs in the pockets to quickly cool him down. The vest wrapped around his chest and belly and back. They weren’t uncomfortably cold, but really helped get his temperature down quickly. I would pour a bottle of water over his head and back to prevent brain damage and overheating then gave him water under a small fold out cover. He use to give 110% when he was out there…especially with all the heavy protective gear he had on. Man, I miss him…

    Stock for now

Heat is my girl's biggest weakness. She gets overheated even just walking the neighborhood. Partly because she gets herself so keyed up looking for other dogs to bark at, or squirrels and rabbits to try and chase.

It took a while for my mom to adopt a new dog after the death of her Saint Bernard last year.
