Alright, you convinced me to rip it out!

It's on the clean side of your air filter housing.

Like @NWPirate said…on the clean side of the engine filter. Pop open the intake like you are going to change the air filter and you’ll see it on the underside of the top piece of the air box. I removed the part so I could tear the diaper out and trim off the remaining plastic goo. Then reinstalled.

I'll have to open up the hood and take a look. For the life of me, I can't figure out what good it does based on where it is.

Anyone here done any extensive driving in BC or Yukon or the Alcan highway? I have a work sabbatical coming up and starting to look at a possible trip next June. Looking for any websites you used for planning, etc.

I keep telling my wife that! She is not fully convinced yet.

3-4 days on a ferry from Bellingham to Juneau, then drive up to the end of the highway in Alaska and then start heading East and South. Drive no more than 6 hours a day so we can enjoy some places along the route. Be one of those trips the kids would remember especially with a few bear and other wildlife along the way.

Great idea. We did a big trip thru CO 4 years ago and the kids still talk about it.

I haven't used this one, but I had it bookmarked:
    https://www.myscenicdrives.com/road-trip-planner

I've typically just done it by manually mapping each "leg" in Google Maps and then saving those as a rough idea. A couple of years ago we did a trip up to Vancouver, spent three days there, then worked our way across to Kamloops, then up to Jasper, then down the Icefields Parkway into Lake Louise, then back over to Kelowna and to some hot springs I can't even remember any more that I think was on Hwy33, then down through Oroville back into the US.

We used to do one road trip - minimum 6 days - every year with our kids. Now my older daughter has picked up that torch (she's with her BF in Arches/Canyonland/Moab right now on a 7-day trip).

 been rough. Big buck is gone, fled the country. Had game Warden out every other day with poachers on posted land. One asshole driving through a field chasing deer off. He got cuffed and stuffed for hunter harassment. Missed a decent 3 point, big bodied deer at 60 yards with my bow. Got to hunt with a buddy of mine on some new ground that was fun, but frustrating at the same time. Been an interesting season so far to say the least. And I need new boots, developed blisters on some steep crp ground.

People are assholes, I've dealt with too many hunting.
Keep hitting it hard man, I know that frustration very well.
I'm due for new boots also, too late for this season but Crispi boots are in my future.

Same boat on boots. Just going to double up on socks and see if that helps. These are fairly new redwings, but they just are not cutting it. Never had a problem with redwings before. Not sure if I should switch up the brands or what. Been looking at some danners. Still researching boots. At the price of boots I want to find something that's good for all around use. Either that or I'll have to bite the bullet and get something for each elk county/winter/grasslands

Crispi are very good boots. Unfortunately, they did not work for my feet. My buddies had the same ones(Idaho’s) and love them with no issues.

I ended up with Scarpa Ribelle HD. So far no issues. I probably could have sized up a half size but otherwise good.

I need some insulated ones still so I either have to spend the money on Scarpa again(either the insulted Ribelle or the Kuiu 10”) or try Oboz Bridger 8”. All have great reviews. I don’t think the wife will approve another set of expensive hunting boots though.

I've had Danner and Redwing boots but wasn't really happy with them. I've got a pair of Lowa's that I like but really need something lightweight with ankle support for early season.
    I'll check those out @Stroke250

I've had the Nevada GTXs for going on three years. I treat them once a year with Sno Seal and by the end of the season they're begging for another coat. My only complaint is they're boots and can be loud as heck walking through the forest. It's hard to sneak in those things. I've been thinking about a pair of stalkasins.

Not a hunter but been really happy with the Danners I have owned over the years. Helps they are made here locally and have a pretty killer factory store.

Got the window visors, DS grab handle, RCI skid, color match mirror caps and TUNDRA inlay all installed. Most of the lights have been swapped to LED. Waiting on a VLED order for the final few bulbs. Still have ESP long box and transmission cooler left for installs.

Mine have either been work boots for construction sites (Bullrun) or their hiking boots. I always buy the made in US stitchdown construction ones that I can have rebuilt once broken in. I have several pairs as I wear them as everyday shoes during fall and winter.

That's all I've ever used in the redwing department. Previous pair I am not sure the model name, but we're steel toe and absolutely awesome for all around boot. I have the Irish setters now and they are fine on flat surfaces, but the minute I hit the hills with them it chews my heels up bad.

Explain this to me. Someone was blasting thru a field intentionally to scare off the deer? One of those “friend of the deers” types? Or just a jerk going for a joy ride?

Not sure to be honest. I was set up under a tree. Guy was on the road, slowed down and pulled into the service road of the field. Stopped. Then gunned it chasing deer that were in the middle of the field grazing. Once the deer scattered he left the field and took off like a bat out of hell. Little did he know game wardens were watching the whole time. They had been watching this property because there was a nice 5x6 mulie buck probably grossing 180" or more hanging out and people were trespassing trying to get to him. They stopped me once and asked if I had permission. Told them I did and who's property it was and they never checked my license or tags. But they were posted up watching all week opening of archery deer season. It was 24 hr surveillance because they were getting reports of people spotlighting at night. Just crazy. Big buck last year on neighboring property and no one did anything. This year it was on feel free to hunt area but I was across the river on private property. Well all the idiots chased him to the private property and thought they could just go after him. Pissed me off. I knew they would chase him to me. Now he's outta country because they wouldn't stop harassing him even when he got on to private property. I had a good plan and it went to shit because of others disrespectful actions.

    Get this shit dude.
The first deer I killed some jackwagon in a suburban came barreling through sagebrush towards the deer I was getting set up on. As he skids to a stop on a bluff just above the deer, the buck stands up and I shoot and drop the deer.
My cousin runs up to the guy in his mid thirties and chews his ass out, we were 16 & 19.
His excuse was he thought we were on his property, the clear property line was 100 yards away. Sure buddy...

Years ago we used to visit the Methow Valley on the regular. One year we were at a friend’s place outside of Carlton during upland game season. They had about 100 acres with most being up on a hill, but the property entrance was down from a road in the valley. We were sitting on their deck that overlooked the valley and six fine citizens come screaming up the road in a POS Super duty. They must have seen something, because they slammed on the brakes, piled out and start running onto their property. One asshat had a bandolier of shells across his chest like Rambo. They were shooting in our general direction but didn’t see us on the hill. Long story short, my buddy and I grabbed our 30-round freedom dispensers and took up positions. Thankfully they heard my buddy’s mom screaming her Texas-raised tongue and quickly turned and left.
