Speaking of rentals, this '19 Seq SR5 we bought was from a rental fleet a local KIA dealer bought wholesale. They had six left on the used lot, all priced at $36k, mileage varied from 29k on ours up to 38k miles, various colors, all of them the base SR5 with cloth seats, 6-way power driver seat, manual passenger. I never thought about buying a former rental but these checked out good (except one). Started them cold on a chilly February Colorado morning, sounded good. The front wheels were in ice, put it in 4LO cold and backed out fine, all drive modes worked fine. Checked the trailer hitch and 7-pin, it clearly had never towed, easy tell. No leaks, no rust.

Moral of the story is in 4-5 years I'll look at base SR5 3rd gen Sequoias that were rentals. Just have to check them carefully. One of them on the KIA lot a rear grab handle was ripped out of the roof and it was stuck in 4HI. I managed to get it out of 4HI by fooling around with the drive selector and CDL lock button, but that one was off the table.

Longer wheelbase makes a wide turning circle. One thing I like about this '19 Seq is it has the same turning circle as a 4Runner. Major to me is better fuel mileage unhooked, better fuel mileage hooked up towing over the Rockies, reliability, ease of maintenance.

8' DC survives. Wonder if Toyota is looking to dent into the fleet market with it and will offer significant fleet discounts to finally break in. They really need to do the Airbus strategy of giving out lots of free vehicles to large companies who then see the long term cost benefits and will accept the higher initial cost.

Also I really like those rims, just needs black lugs

I just came from Pat Lobb Toyota where I put a deposit down :yay:
This is my first time ever putting a deposit down on a vehicle that hasn't even been released yet. Feeling a bit nervous, not gonna lie.

When I was truck shopping the Chevy Silverado was the bottom of the list. Mainly because you could have gotten a trail boss LT loaded for about 45K out the door at the time. GMC has a much nicer looking exterior. The Tundra won in all aspect for me and that’s what I ended up with.

I would pay extra to be able to keep all that stealth coverings they use, then drive around with it long after the reveal. TTV8? :spy: :)

I placed a $100 deposit 1.5 year’s ago and a $1500 deposit early this year on a Bronco that is 100% refundable if I walk away. I’m not interested anymore in the Bronco since it can’t tow more than 3500lbs and it’s slow with a weak tranny, they are also having some issues with them. Looking forward to the Tundra or a Raptor if the TRD Pro doesn’t have good specs. How much was your deposit? Did u have them sign it? Was there language that it’s 100% refundable? That’s what I did with my local Ford for the Bronco.

Thanks for the reply. It was $500 and all I got was a credit card receipt. It seemed a little strange to me, but he said there wouldn't be any additional paperwork until I actually place an order. He did assure me that it was fully refundable though.

never understood someone putting money down on vehicle that hasn't hit the lot yet, no idea of the sticker price and exactly what price you'll be paying. guess i'll just be poor over here. if you just wait they will be around soon enough and at a better price I'd bet.

if someone wants to send me $500 I'll deposit in my account

I agree...the white color on the pic released by toyota is hideous. White trucks are stupid and look like pansies.
Wait for a real version with some character then compare.

um you cant have a Full time 4WD and it be 2WD system. if its full time, that means its sending power to all wheels all the time, you cant turn it off.

if it has 2wd mode, then its a part time 4wd system.

if you want an example of a FT4WD system look at the 4runner limited. its in 4HI all the time.

you can only select 4HI Locked or 4 Low on a 4runner limited

By full time 4wd, I think he means an auto 4wd. You can have 2wd, an auto 4wd which acts like an awd, 4 high locked, and 4 lo.

Does Toyota even do "orders" or is it the dealership that does the "order"?

I know Ford took orders for the new Bronco, and Ford honors those orders. It's different when the dealership does it, because they can charge you more than MSRP (in USA)

It's about being first in line. As for not knowing what price you'll be paying, you negotiate the price at the time you place your order. If they won't give you the price you want then take your deposit back and walk away... no harm, no foul.

That doesn't sound right... Ford can't sell directly to consumers. It has to be through a dealership. As for charging more than MSRP, you make sure to get the price in writing at the time you place the order.

It is a cluster right now. You hear something different from two dealers 20 minutes apart from one another. Seems like they all have different strategies depending on how much volume they do

You can place deposit with any dealer that's willing to take it, but that only saves a spot when they know they are getting trucks.

You can place "deposits" with OEMs, i.e. $100 , but when that pre-order is translate into firm order, OEMs just send you an email or letter, say you if you wish to translate that into firm order, please contact this/that dealer, and they will work out the paperwork.

Yes, but those usually holds little value if the dealer wants to sell it to highest bidder, they can simply return your deposit since they cannot fulfill the order.

Wish you all the best, the earliest delivery should start in November, have you decide what trim(s) you are aiming for?
