    Plastidip.
I want to see the specs so I can extrapolate to the new Sequoia. Then I'll let early-adopters Beta test the drivetrain for me (I'm selfish that way). Then maybe get a used Seq when the '19 wears out. My daughter drives the '19 Seq and she piles up about 24k miles per year on her vehicles. The SR5 was from a rental fleet wholesaled out, I figure SR5 Seq's will get the same treatment 4-5 years down the road and by then I'll know enough to judge if the new platform is the way to go.
Same here. Current gen Seq is great, huge cargo capacity, rolldown rear window, 1300lb cargo weight, IRS, Torsen center diff for full-time 4WD. Has 2WD, full-time 4WD with center diff lock for a 50/50 torque split, and 4LO.
Sequoia will have a similar front end like the Tundra. I bet they keep the enhanced drivetrain like the current gen Seq. Current Seq has the Torsen center diff on all trims, same as the Land Cruiser. Great 4WD system.

Take it for what it is worth, but I contacted my dealer today and he said that Toyota is going to start mass producing the Tundra first part of November, not sure if that is the fleet production or all trucks. Not sure how long it takes from production starting to actually being able to drive one off the lot.

Car & Driver knows what they're talking about. Also, they are in agreement with Toyota. Toyota model generations correspond directly with model codes. When a new generation comes out, that model gets an updated code. We know 2014-2021 Tundras are still 2nd gen because 2014-2021 Tundras are still designated as the XK50 model, just like all Tundras starting in the 2007 model year. First gen (XK30) was 2000-2006. Sequoia has followed one year behind with XK40 (2001-2007), and XK60 (2008-2022). They're about to enter their 3rd generations in 2022 (Tundra) and 2023 (Sequoia).

A facelift and removal of engine options and several interior features does not make a new generation.

That dumb Tundra page on pressroom.toyota.com that some intern mashed together in 10 minutes that says "third generation" is in direct conflict with the generational model codes and should be edited.

They have to build enough to fill up the outbound cargo, be it train or by trucks. Seems the assembly line is making a few production trucks already

We've always known that it was still the 2nd gen. The only reason it's called 3rd gen is for easy (read lazy) differentiation for non compatible parts, whether OEM or aftermarket.

Rentals really do make sense. Why buy a gigantic SUV needed for one big whole fam-jam trip a year when the majority of the time a Corolla/Civic would meet daily transportation needs? Save a ton of gas and maintenance costs, no worries re aging domestic suv reliability, not to mention the sticker price. It takes a LOT of rental bills to equal $80k-30k.

This logic doesn’t of course apply to Tundras due to their inherent superiority and corresponding pricelessness;)

Check out Wikipedia. I'm sure Toyota had a hand in creating the wikipedia content for the Tundra.

As I've stated before here, my hope is a longer wheelbase option for Sequoia like a Suburban/Yukon XL/Expedition MAX.

I strongly believe it will be both. The SNF is more like a nationwide announcement with a 30 seconds ad, but it will be displayed at the auto show. In between, you'll see all the auto journalists talking about it on their respective forums /websites and youtube channels.

this most likely has been posted before and if so I do apologize in advance. So the new full size Bronco seems to have some issues and now they aren't shipping to dealers. guessing Toyota would rather be safe than sorry.

They just had brake pedals that could fall off, other than that it's the common airbag issues and other electrical issues. Or the 3.0l diesel has a few recalls on that engine, big one causes fires as well.

Funny that while I was looking into the recalls they had an extremely familiar one - floor mats not being installed right. Barely heard about it. But when Toyota had that issue it was a massive lawsuit and throttle pedals had to be cut. So many wonder why Toyota takes a very long time to test their vehicles before release - that is why. They cannot have the small issues like the big 3 have without fear of lawsuits.

That was a bullshit claim. The floor mats had NOTHING to do with that issue. My wife had a camry and it would LURCH even with the brake pedal pushed down hard. They tried to blame people for having installed their floor mats incorrectly (kinda idiot proof if you ask me). It would do it with ALL of the floor mats out of the car. It was a computer issue, PERIOD. They lied and tried to cover it up.

While you're probably correct, I did have an issue one time where the floor mat on my 2004 Tacoma slid up and over the gas pedal, but under the brake pedal - so the gas was being depressed, and if I hit the brake it wouldn't fully depress, and would actually depress the gas pedal more. I was on an open road, so I just reached down and pulled out the floor mat. This was before the floormats would latch into place, so I just punched a couple of holes in it, and zip tied it to the chair frame.

Seeing as the recall and the lawsuit was specific to the floor mats you had a different issue. And if it was a computer issue wouldn't far more vehicles have that issue? The solution for the lawsuit was to cut the throttle pedal - no ecu flash of any kind.

We found one dealership that would take the Camry in for a trade-in. They had a full lot of probably 200 Camry's just sitting there just waiting to be sent back to somewhere.

Toyota is loathe to ever admit any kind of design defect. They would just as soon do a Hari-Kari on themselves before admitting a design error. I know this first hand from the garbage Sienna AWD I briefly owned in 2005.

Does anyone know if they will be available for ordering starting Monday the 20th or will it take some time before dealer's systems are updated?
